Guest guest
Dear list members, I am preparing a translation of the karmavipAka section in mAdhavAcArya's parAzaramAdhavIya (vol.2, 2, pp. 205-278 in Islamapurkar's edition). Much of mAdhava's argument is based on a single verse referred to as just an anonyous saying (vacana). None of the two editors (Tarkalankara (1899), Islamapurkar (1893-1919)) identifies the verse. It reads like this (in H-K): pUrvajanmakRtaM pApaM vyAdhirUpeNa bAdhate / tacchAntir auSadhair dAnair japahomArcanAdibhiH // (Islampurkar 2, 2, p.273; Tarkalankar 2, p.525). From mAdhava's subsequent discussion it seems that the saying belongs to " cikitsA " or a cikitsA work. Have any of you come accross this verse or do you know its identity? Guest guest
Probably you can try searching in the standard cikitsA texts such as the CarakasaMhitA, or aSTANgahRdaya. Guest guest
One very good place to talk about these subjects is the forums on social network site Orkut. If you have a Google account you can use that to log into Orkut. I know many learned Sanskritists, archeologists and Indologists actively discussing these topics on the forums. http://www.orkut.com/Main#Community.aspx?cmm=14669 http://www.orkut.com/Main#Community.aspx?cmm=741647 this is rather quiet. Guest guest
No it is not Madhva. It is Madhavacharya of the 14th century. He is sometimes identified with Sayana-Madhava, the great founder of Vijayanagara kingdom.
