Guest guest
Om Namah Sivaya Hari OM I request the knowledgeable members to please comment on the important verses of Sri Rudram. Sri P.R. Ramachander has provided a nice English translation on the celextel.org website http://www.celextel.org/vedichymns/rudram.html For example in the second verse, what is the significance of the bow, quiver and arrows of Sri Rudra ? thanks for your time and efforts, Shailendra
Guest guest
dear shivbhakts om namo bhagawate rudraya the first two verses of nakam are to be understood word by word as follows: namas te rudra manyava uto te ishave namaha; namaste astu dhanvane bahubhyam uta te namaha: ya te ishu sivatama sivam babhuva te dhanu; siva saravya ya tava taya na rudra mrudaya: the rudra form of lord shiva is seen here as the form of destruction and hence these verses say: O rudra, we bow to your anger, we bow to your arrow, we bow to your bow (dhanu) and we bow to your hands. be merciful and kindly do not show your anger on us and use your arrows, bow and hands to destroy the enemies (not us), for we are your worshippers. in the destructive form of rudra, lord rudra is seen as a person who is angry, holding the arrows and bow and is ready to use with his hands and hence the shivbhakt is worshipping this form not to aim his destruction on the shivbhakt and aim at the enemies. O rudra, your arrow, bow and quiver are all things that give us peace as we have taken refuge at your feet and we perceive these things of yours as protect us. after praising the destructive fearful form of rudra in these two verses, the next verse praises about the shantarupa or the simple form of rudra without these weapons and pray to the lord to give darshan and bless in such peaceful form. the next verse eulogises the shantiroopa of rudra and says that the destructive form with arrow, bow and quiver is aimed only to destory the evils and protect the good. the further verses continue to praise the peaceful formation etc. with best wishes and blessings pandit arjun www.rudraksharemedy.com , " bhatnagar_shailendra " <bhatnagar_shailendra wrote: > > Om Namah Sivaya > > Hari OM > > I request the knowledgeable members to please comment on the important > verses of Sri Rudram.
