Guest guest Report post Posted October 25, 2007 dear friends am living in hyderabad, india and this city is most reputed for selling pearls. many tourists from across the world visit this old city and shop in the market streets around the famed charminar where hundreds of shops sell pearls. pearl necklaces containing hundreds of pearls are avilable starting less than one hundred rupees and to a couple of thousand rupees. one customer of mine asked me to enquire if he can get a genuine NATURAL pearl in this city of pearls and then i visited more than hundred shops including the most reputed and oldest shops in hyderabad and ALL of them said that they dont have any natural pearls and all the pearls they sell are shell cultured and some even imported from china. one shopseller told that the last natural pearls were available two decades ago from basra, off pakistan. due to rampant oil and gas drilling and other human, mechanical interventions, natural pearls have become as rare as extinct. i request richardji to inform whether natural pearls are really that rare and if there are any dealers in india who still sell genuine natural pearls. to those who are not aware, i dont buy or sell gems at all and this message is only for knowledge sharing purposes on knowing the real genuine natural pearls and their availability. with best wishes and blessings pandit arjun www.rudraksharemedy.com sacred-objects , " Richard Shaw-Brown " <rsbj66 wrote: > > Dear friends, > > Namaste!!! Guest guest Report post Posted October 26, 2007 There is IGI at bombay and for pearls there is another testing lab at zaveri bajar. Bharat labs i beleive in chennai and an independent gemologist at Salem in tamilnadu. relaible, yes upto the extent that you dont have an exceptional piece. As far as my experience goes the most reliable is the pearl testing place at jhaveri bajar in mumbai. They will rant a little bit but if the know you are knowledgeable about what you have they will give the right certificate. hope this helps. best, Jay --- panditarjun2004 <panditarjun2004 wrote: > dear friends > > am living in hyderabad, india and this city is most > reputed for selling > pearls. many tourists from across the world visit > this old city and > shop in the market streets around the famed > charminar where hundreds of > shops sell pearls. pearl necklaces containing > hundreds of pearls are > avilable starting less than one hundred rupees and > to a couple of > thousand rupees. one customer of mine asked me to > enquire if he can > get a genuine NATURAL pearl in this city of pearls > and then i visited > more than hundred shops including the most reputed > and oldest shops in > hyderabad and ALL of them said that they dont have > any natural pearls > and all the pearls they sell are shell cultured and > some even imported > from china. one shopseller told that the last > natural pearls were > available two decades ago from basra, off pakistan. > due to rampant oil > and gas drilling and other human, mechanical > interventions, natural > pearls have become as rare as extinct. > > i request richardji to inform whether natural pearls > are really that > rare and if there are any dealers in india who still > sell genuine > natural pearls. > > to those who are not aware, i dont buy or sell gems > at all and this > message is only for knowledge sharing purposes on > knowing the real > genuine natural pearls and their availability. > > with best wishes and blessings > pandit arjun > www.rudraksharemedy.com > > sacred-objects , " Richard > Shaw-Brown " > <rsbj66 wrote: > > > > Dear friends, > > > > Namaste!!! Guest guest Report post Posted October 26, 2007 Dear Pandit Arjunji, The Jagdamba pearls in Hyderabad sells basra pearls, he has antique collection. I have a friend in Bangalore who purchased a 3 carat basra pearl from Jagdamba. The fulchand sarkar in Mumbai and few other big players in basra pearl are based in Mumbai. The X-Ray certificate only says that pearl is real, the origin is never mentioned. Recently I purchased a real bahrin pearl with X-Ray certificate from " SHRI ZAVERI MAHAJAN ZAVERAT & MOTI TOLAI CHARTITABLE TRUST " , Mumbai.
