Guest guest Report post Posted April 22, 2010 Eric and All - namaste, First of all i want to say that not all snakes are poisones, many are very useful to us, eating little insects and rodents etc. When a poisones snake bites, it is simply being its nature. There is no malice or evil intent. I have many little snake friends living on this property and watch them often in fascination and love, thinking of Lord Vishvanath (Shiva) and the grace of His presence. Snakes are symbols of the Divine Mother, Lord Shiva and countless other things, we could write a book! There are so many stories in all cultures about this important symbol. When Divinity encounters the snake (or any being) - there is no "other" and therefore the question of one biting, killing, hurting another does not arise. Shivapuri Baba used to have wild leopards visiting him in his hut. When One is All - - All is One. However, a human being has been given the nature of a human and not that of a snake. So, when a person acts like the poison-part of a snake nature, their own true nature is simply obscured and has to be discovered. We don't have to judge, dislike, reject - just reflect back our true nature as much as we are capable - watch our own snake living in us and the snake will go away without biting us. love, usha
