Guest guest Report post Posted April 21, 2010 Greetings Brothers and Sisters, I noticed something and wanted to get your advice if this is a coincidence or something else. I do a few hours of japa. I don't do it regularly. It's more like once a few days. I've noticed rain coming down the day after of my japa days. I've been doing it for a month now and its consistently happenning and seems too much of a coincidence to not notice. Is there some significance to this? Or is it just a simple coincidence? Certainly I'd avoid *trying* to making it rain while doing japa - Maa knows the planet needs us to stop messing with the climate! In all seriousness, I too have noticed unusual occurrences that match up with my irregular practice. Whether it's simply a psychological phenomenon or the Divine trying to tell me something is a great mystery. Maybe it is best to leave it that way? Jai Maa. -Santo aum shanti shanti shantih. Rather than the japa affecting the weather, have you thought about it in the opposite direction? That perhaps the weather has affected your desire to do japa? That is far more likely. Assuming that we are directly affecting global weather patterns with our practice is a trick of the ego. Better to remain humble and remind ourselves that the world doesn't revolve around us and our practice. This includes standing in neck deep water, doing varuna japam and also performing certain yagnas to pray to the rain gods. The procedure is done when there is a long dry spell and agriculture and other trades suffer due to want of rains. It is not that a single person does some japam and heavens come splitting down on our heads. If it be so, a one thousand crore pranaams to such a saadhak.
