Namaste,

The sthUla vigraha of the Lalita Tripurasundari has 4 hands with the following

ayudhas namely pAsA (noose), ankusa (goad), Ikshu kodanda (sugarcane bow) and

pancha pushpa bANAs (5 arrows made of 5 different flowers) respectively.

The 53rd Sloka of Chakrasamketa Nirupana says:

icchAsaktimayam pAshamankusham jnAnarUpiNam

kriyAshaktimayE bANadhanuShI dadhadujjwalAm //

[source: Yogini Hridaya]

Noose represents Iccha Sakti; Goad represents Jnana Sakti; Bow & Arrows

represent Kriya Sakti respectively.

Hence, the Gross form of Lalitha Parabhattarika represents Iccha Sakti, Jnana

Sakti & Kriya Sakti – all 3 Saktis combined into ONE.

Regs,

Sriram

Namasthe.

I was just writing about Her for AD 160 and your post came.

QUOTE :

Maha Swamy says She becomes SRUNGARA LAHARY -- Lahary is a stream or flood

with regard to everything. She who is Soundarya Lahary and also Ananda

Lahary and is also mentioned as Srungara lahary ( SL 16 ) and AHLADA lahary

(SL - 21) which means a wave of Love and Gladness.

Shiva in Shivananda Lahary is a stream of Bliss and this also belongs to Her

as She cant be separated, since the former is Sath and the latter is Chit.

Para Bhattarika is also " Kaameswari " ,the presiding deity of Sri Vidya.

Since She inspires KAMA or desire in the Eswara She is Kameswari.

The purpose of Ambaa assuming Her supremly lovely Body is to make all people

including the Unintelligent and the Immature to give up their attachment to

beauty in all its petty and tawdry forms and turn to wards Her.

Her great charm is nothing but the outcome of her Compassion. She is in fact

embodiment of the beauty that is her compassion. In case of human beings

there is no connection between their inner feelings of Love and their

Outward Looks. Not so in case of Ambaa. Her inner Love is Her outwardly

Bodily beauty. She is verily the Kameswari.

This form is seen in kAmAkshi amman temple in Kanchi (and I presume other

kAmAkshi amman temples too).

What are the other temples mentioned in the puranas which has this form of

Ambaal?

Vishwam

Namaste.

AFAIK, this form is the unique which is attributed to Lalitha.

Another interesting aspect here is that this form does not has Varada & Abhaya

Mudras. Kanchi Mahaswamigal says that the holy pair of lotus feet of Kamakshi

Ambaal represent these two aspects (varada & abhaya tattwas).

The lotus feet of Kamakshi grants us boons & fearlessness.
