Their are many examples in our history of religion that people do pooja/archna w/o Guru's guidenance and they do not get propoer path/results. Many a times a particular pooja/ worshiping of god/ godess is good for us and beneift us. If by hence you do not know the proper steps and do pooja, some time it may revert.
