I am very happy to present a brilliant

UpanyAsam by SrikAryam Swami of

Ahobila MaTham , GhanapAdi PazhavEri

Sri U.Ve.SaThakOpAcchAr Swamy .

 

I am grateful to Sriman G. Veeraraghavan

of Chembur for helping to record and

transmit this 44 minute UpanyAsam .

My thanks are to Sri Jayashree and

Murali Desikachari Dampathys for

compacting this audio file and

cutting down the background noises.

 

For the benefit of those , who may not

be able to understand Tamil , the gist of

the UpanyAsam is:

 

Acchidhram , AswamEdham and KaaDakam

are KrishNa YajurvEda Mantrams that are

recited on EkAdasi/DhvAdasi days .

Acchidhram is used for destruction of

all sins and are Yajana , Yaajana

PrAyascchittha Mantrams for improper

conductance of Vedic Yaagams like

AswamEdham and other Soma Yaagams.

The recitation of Acchidram yields

the phalan of performing AswamEdham.

Swamy recited specific mantrams from

Acchidhram and other Veda BhAgams

to celebrate the nobility of the VedAs ,

the need to support and protect Veda

AdhikAris and blessed us with knowledge

on the various ways to perform Homams .

 

Acchiddhra/AswamEdha/KaaDaka

Recitations was started by Present

Srimath Azhagiya Singar at SrI Matam.

KamalApuram SanthAna GopAlAcchAr

was the First PoorNAdhyAyi , who

recited the above Veda BhAgams at

the niyamanam of Srimath Azhagiya

Singar . That tradition continues .

 

Last year , number of you supported

this rich tradition of above Veda

Vijn~Apanams to MalOlan and

all the 26 EkAdasi/DhvAdasis were

covered .

 

We are making plans now to cover

the 31 DhvAdasis from Feb5, 2009

( SarvadhAri year) to March 26, 2010

( VirOdhi year ) .

 

We have now recieved 22 pledges

against the 31 available slots of two

days of Veda PaarAyaNam .

 

The remaining 9 sets of days

for pledging are :

 

In 2009: Oct 14, 29 and Dec 11.

In 2010: Jan 10/11 , 25/26 ; Feb 9/10

& 24/25 , March 11/12 , March 26/27 .
