Good Morning Satish,

Visiting Sabarimalai with 41 day penance is good from a religious as well as

personal standpoint.

Yes, you can visit Sabarimalai with out 41 day penance, however you will not or

shall not go thru " Pathinettam Padi " , instead you should go thru the steps in

the rear entrance or side entrance of the temple.

You can have a good darshan of Lord Ayyappa.

Ensure you are aware of the Temple timings.

Having said all that I would also like to emphasize that the experience of

visiting Sabarimalai after 41 days penance is beyond any kind of explanation.

Have a nice journey:)

Regards,

Prasanna K

Dear Mr.Satish Bharathan

Though a Srivaishnava, I visit the Holy Shrine every year. I consider that Lord

Ayyappa as personification of Sri Sudarshanar.

If it comes to your mind that you wish to take a trip to the Holy Shrine, please

do so without any hesitation.

You may be on tour (I also travel a lot) but make sure that the " penace " for 41

days prior to visit is kept whether you wear malai or not. In other words, keep

yourself clean - mentally and physically; desist from female company; take food

once a day and fruits only in the nights; as far as possible avoid things which

give comfort to the body such as soft bed/pillows; take bath in cold water only;

as far as possible avoid taking foods which are considered " rajas " ; keep your

surroundings clean and do not mix with any bad company; go to a Ayyappa temple

daily (if your tour is to a place where there is no Ayyappa temple, then go to

any temple); do the dhyanam daily 10 or 24 or 108 times ( " Om Bhootanathaya

Vidmahe, Bhava Puthrayadhimahi, Tanno Sastha Prachodayath " ); start seeing Lord

Ayyappa in every human being and you will go very near to Him; if possible and

you can have " maladhranam " also it is excellant and in your tours you can wear

black dress (not necessarily dhoti). Lord Ayyappa is omnipotent and what He

expects is a Antha-shuddi.

Before you go the Holy Shrine invite Ayyappa Bhakthas for doing a pooja in your

house followed by serving them with food. While on the way to the Holy Shrine,

do not forget to visit Srivaishana Divya Kshetram: TIRUVALLAVAZH ( Tiruvalla )

This Divya kshetram is at Tiruvalla town near Kottayam in Kerala. The moolavar

is Kolappiran also called Sri Vallabhan in standing posture. The Thayar is

Selvathirukozhundu Nachiyar. The Theertham is Kandakarna Theertham and the

Vimanam Chathurangakola Vimanam. There is a shrine for Viswaksenar. According to

the sthala purana Shankara Mangalathammai used to observe Ekadasi vratham and

feed one Brahmachari on the Dwadasi day. Tolakarana, a demon was creating

hurdles to her vratham. Responding to her prayers the Lord killed the demon and

came for the feast in the form of a Brahmachari, and later gave darsan to her

with Lakshmi adorning His chest and gained the name Tiruvazhmarban. The place

Tiruvalla originates from the presiding deity Vallabha. Alwar pasurangal :

Nammaazhwar - 3205-15 and Tirumangai Azhwar - 1808 -17, 2674 (118).

Also try to visit Srivaishana Divya Kshetram: TIRUKKODITTAANAM. This Divya

kshetram is 3 Kms from Chengannacheri near Kottyam in Kerala. The moolavar is

Athputha Narayana and the Thayar Karpagavalli. The Theertham is Bhoomi Theertham

and the Vimanam Punyakoti Vimanam.

Please share with us your divine experiences with all of us.

Best regards

Dear Mr.K.Prasanna,

Just a correction in your mail. One can climb up the Holy Padinettu Padi even

without 41 days of penace. You can climb if you have the Maladharanam, carry

Irumudi and wear black dhoti. Climbing the Padi is the pinnacle of the Vratam

and one should not miss it.

Dear Shri.Narasimhan Padmanabhan,

Only Sriman Narayana can grant Moksha and all other deities can grant only other

material comforts. If you visit any other temple other than Sriman Narayana as

the presiding diety you as a Srivaishnava should not ask for any boon from the

diety as they can give only materialistic boons. Only Perumal is the " Jyotinam

Jyotihi " and other dieties draw power from Him. On the other hand if you see

Sriman Narayana even when you stand before any other diety then you will see Him

only in everywhere. If you feel that going to worship Sri Ayyappa is not for a

Srivaishavite, please remember when we are sick, we go to the specialist who can

cure us of his area; we do not go to a Cardiolist to cure common cold or cough.

I am of personal opinion that sometimes we need to take solutions on certain

trivial but persisting ailments by going to dieties like Sri Ayyappa, it will

not be an act against prapatti. Keeping our body in a fit condition is also

only to serve Sriman Narayana and with no other intention.

This discussion is important and please correct me if I am wrong in my

thinkings.

Best regards

Dasan,

Please desist from personal opinions, and provide

qualified answers. Prapatthi, Prapanna, Mumukshu are

used so casually, for which AchAryas have detailed &

clear answers.

So please seek the feet of an AchArya of

JnAna-AnushtAna-VairAghyA (like DinAchArya scholars),

and seek clarifications, especially Sri Vaishnavites

and aspiring Srivaishnavites can benefit by seeking an

AchArya of an Avichinna AchArya Parampara (unbroken

guru parampara from Sriya Pathi to current AchArya).

Adiyen Namaskarangal,

I do not agree with Srinivasa Ragavan swami , A person who has complete faith in

Sriman Narayana need not go to other deities for temporary material desires. A

true vaishnavite is a person who surrenders himself to our Lord Sriman Narayana

and he will no longer seek favours from other dieties, he understands and

believesthat the Lord will take care of him and will always seek t he refuge of

the lords holy feet.

I beg your pardon , if I have hurt you , but going to tother deites for small

favours is in turn a depiction of non trust in Sriman Narayana.

Dear Sir,

WHO TOLD YOU that ayyappa has become a household name

throughout the WORLD. IS HE KNOWN IN RUSSIA

dont blabber something and you are only trying to force your

conclusions on others

AS i have written in the past ONE MUST APPROACH ONES

Aacharyan[guru] OR THE LEARNED scholars in their AACHARYA PARAMPARAI and get

their doubts clarified,

instead of coming to ones own conclusions[WHICH WILL BE WRONG MOST OF THE

TIMES]

Whether one likes or dislikes, a large chunk of Hindu population worship

Ganapathy, Hanuman and Durgai(in many incarnations). It is common knowledge

no doubt that Vaishnava scripts describe Shriman Narayana as the Supreme Lord.

But equally other faiths also have their versions about their Gods. Infact a

small fraction of the Hindu community also visit Darghas and Churches. Ayyappa

has become an household name throughout the world. His shrine is visited by many

faiths and beliefs. It is one's belief and circumstances. What ever be the form,

let us worship our preferred deity in those forms. When He resides in THOON and
