I hope dhanam is the word which may make feel happier who is giving but for

the students there who getting knowledge will feel shy when they are telling

the name in Outside.

 

I think hence no Saint use word Dhanam in their Life to avoid self pride

which creates ego etc.

 

This is my suggestion only not for harsh anyone! Your suggestions welcome!

One should not feel shy to get a thing as Dhaanam.

Some of things are to be get only by dhaanam.

If a person who is very rich should also get a girl to marry only as dhaanam.

Though you are paying for few things like blood, eyes, food etc. if the giving

person is not willing to give it, when there is no other source where money is

having no value, one should beg and get those things.

Also Dhaanam should not be done with the sense of proud, but should be done with

pleasure and happy and thankfulness to God, that God who put us in a stage to

donate something.

Dhaanam is prescribed in SaasthrAs

from anna dhAnam , KanyA dhAnam ,

SaaLagrama DhAnam , Go dhAnam to Vidhya dhAnam

(from good Acharyan to a sishyan) .

 

In the old days , Guru Kulam was maintained

for VidhyA DhAnam .

..

Some times , the king created patasAlAs

( Raaja Paatasaala at KumbakONam

for teaching VedAs ) ; Some times AchAryAs

created such learning centers ( prabhandham ,

Vedams , Aagamams).

 

There are amny PatasAlAs today , which have transformed

themselves to blend into traditional studies ( Tarkam ,

VyAkarNam , MeemAmsa ) along with contemproray

studies ( Science , Engg , use of computers ) to earn degrees

that will lead to marketable skills besides the Vaidheekam

skills .A combination of skills is most welcome today .

 

Examples of such hybrid PaatasAlAs

are at MadhurAnthakam , Mambalam Schools ,

Andavan College at Trichy and a number of others .

 

Then there are others , which have been created to

address needs of one community or other based on

individual large scale philanthrophy .

 

One does not need to feel self consdcious about

the DhAnam aspect of VidhyA dhAnam . Any one

who helps to light the lamp of knowledge will be

welcomed gratefully by the community & the beneficiary .
