***I do not reject any of the points stated here under by the author of this

message, but, I wish to indicate onething, no one should try to insert their own

idealogy or intention in the meanings of the traditional acharams for any rason

say to convince the youngsters or others.

nvs

Namaskarams !!

This problem has a solution in itself. As Lord Krishna

expresses in Bhagavad Geetha, anything and everything

that happens, happens for good and with a purpose.

Like any other " profession " , if the TN Government

feels about priesthood, so be it, this also has to

appoint a perfectly qualified person after undergoing

the necessary trainings and understanding the system

thoroughly. For the sake of " one-up-manship " some

supporters of this Govt ruling would like to join

them.

1) They have to undergo strict discipline training

under the same conditions, which also includes

" acharam and anusthanam " as per our customs. (Many of

them have to be told the " scientific reasoning " of

observing acharam, which is NOT UNTOUCHABILITY but

simple cleanliness, hygiene and basic respect for the

culture and the seriousness of following " Godliness " .

2) They have to undergo the test/analytical and exams

and interviews to be conducted by highly qualified

pundits.

3) They have to have strict control of diet, which

includes abstaining from certain vegetables and

non-veg items, which leads to " Tamasa gunam " .

I am sure we have good number of lawyers who can

represent our case upto the highest level (Supreme

Court) to get this conditions approved to qualify for

the priesthood.

And not the least, some (I repeat some) of our priests

(with full respect and credit-no offence meant),

should be more perfect in their quality of preisthood,

acharam , anusthanam etc to be the best. Let us take

this opportunity to learn that we have to be more

protective and perfect in our " vaideekam murai " which

we have loosened up a little bit causing these people

to act with this Govt motive.

At the end, I would like to sincerely request all dear

members, that please (for Lord Krishna's sake) please

tell all the young boys and girls (age group of 10-25

yrs) in your family and your relatives' family to take

pride in our culture, attend discourses and know the

scientific meaning and reasoning behind the

" so-called " traditional things, which they feel is

unnecessary. By knowing more about our culture, they

should be made to realise, that unlike by " lure of

money " by one religion or by the " sword on the neck "

of another, we the pious minded " sanatana dharma "

hindus have not converted a single person to hinduism,

but have told the nectar of geetha to others and those

interested by themselves have come to the hindu fold.

Only a bee would recognise the true honey trapped in

the right flower, all other flowers, however lucrative

may not yield honey/nectar for the bee.

Let us search for such bees to represent our future

generations. Please tell this to all the young

generation of your family today, as we need to teach

them now, before these " bees " from our family are

attracted to the " lucrative " flowers in the form of

other aspects. Key to this would be to tell your kids

to earn and live in the motherland. " Laugika "

compulsions of earning dollars is meant that loosing

on living in this great " punya bhoomi " where Lord

Rama and Krishna have walked.

Dasan

Madabhooshi Srinivasan (Ravi)

Ps: I would like to convey the " life science " to all

interested in our great culture

NVS Swami...

correct me wherever I am wrong...so that I can also

learn...but I did not quite understand where I

migrated from what was meant by our forefathers in

case of acharam...except for the fact that many elders

did not question but obediently respected and obeyed

their elders while nowadays, younger generation wants

to be convinced before starting on something new....

pls correct me if I am wrong....

Dasan !

I would like to recollect one past incident in this regard.

When the Harijan Aalaya Pravesam law was enacted, the then

Aandavan Swami at Srirangam vowed not enter any temple and

he struck to his decision.

The kainkaryams done by most of the archagas in many of the temples

are not upto the mark and we all know of this. This is the case for

Periya Perumal

also.

But since the devathaa aaradhanam takes place in the midnight to the

Lord SRi

Ranganatha by all the devathaas, He is still merciful to fulfill the

desires of the devotees.

(not because of the manner in which the unqualified archagas do

kainkaryams there).

If at all anybody is offended by the act of the government, one has to

be satisfied with

doing SaaLagrama Thiruvaaradhanam at one's house because Bhagawan

resides at all

times in Salagramam (Nithyavaasi).

In most of the village temples, non-vaishnavites do the kainkaryams

nowadays.

In my native village of Periyamarai, Lord Sri Srinivasa's kainkaryam is

done by

a smartha brahmin and when I go there, he will leave the garbhagraha and

all the

kainkaryams will be done by adiyen so long as adiyen is there.

It is all a game of Kaalam and there is no point in denying to accept it.

Ilayavilli S Boovarahan

PS: Since some of our members could not read msgs ins Tamil , I have

composed this in English.

*** As in the case of my village " Deevalur " the Aaradhana kainkaryam was done by

my father to the Varadharaja perumal. He is the only vaishnavite preist for the

sourrounding of about 40 kilometers. Everyday he used to start by 4.00 am to

complete four villages aaradhanam, and then he goes to his own (management)

school, again in the evening by 4 pm to 9 pm he will cover another four village

temples. We could not see him in the house.

Now in our village, a Ennaikara Chettiyar 'Kesavan' is doing Aaradhanam to

Varadharaja perumal.

Even though he is ready to give way to do the aaradhanam when I go there, I will

not accept it, and I ask him to do himself and I will take only the

" Thiruthuzai " not deertham. I will say to him, " Kesava, Engalivida unnaithampa

avarukku pidichirukku, athinaalathan engalai thurathivittu, unnaikkondu

aaradhanam pannikkirar " yendru.

He will just laugh, and do his duity very sincerely.

* Still he gets nothing for his kainkaryam from the trustee (except 'Emperumans

Dhivya Kadaksham').

Swamin,

It is gratifying to learn about the dedication of

service to the Lord by the Ennaikara chettiyar

'Kesavan' to Varadharaja perumal. Since many of the

Brahmin families have been forced to migrate to the

towns to make a living, quite a number of temples have

been neglected, and thanks to a few Kesavans

the service continues to go on uninterrupted.

It is also a pity to find some of the Brahmin priests

perform kainkaryam half heartedly, and many times we

feel sick of getting the kainkaryams performed through

them. Unfortunately religious worship in Temples has

been commercialised, and one gets a feeling that the

rich alone can have access to reach God.

The best course would be to conduct Tiruvarathanam to

Salagramam at our residences, and call on our Acharyas

for worship at the Mutts (fortunately the Mutts are

not under Govt. control)

Dasan

Tamarapu Sampath Kumaran

***Good Mr.Sampath,

Emperuman also expecting this type of change in the religious motion.

Now people are not having the real faith with their Acharyas.

But as per our religion, Acharya is greater than God, because, who the Acharya

only show and educate the God to reach HIM. God is every where, So, if we

worship the Acharya, it will yield both of the benefit (oru kallil rendu

maanga).

So, as mentioned by you we all change our houses as a mini temple.

We should keep aacharam and anushtanam how much we can.

We can worship the Thirumurhties with Acharyas, when ever we find time to go

there. Or often we should try to go there.

regards,

Respected Vadhyar,

This is a point well made. There is always an attempt to modify and twist the

traditional way of doing things citing modern day conditions. Even in modern

times it is possible to orient the children at home. There is no need to attend

discourses of Swamijis.

The onus is right on the father. If he is able to do his Nitya Pooja and

Sandhyavandanam regularly and maintain a religious fervour in the house and has

control over his children, half the battle is won.
