Guest guest
Namaste, I know this is a really simple question bordering on stupid but in J Hora software, would you please tell me if: 1. When entering birthdata, since there isn't a separate option to adjust for daylight saving time, do you: a) in the box for " birthtime " enter, [birthtime - 1 hour] (and not touch the time zone that comes up or b)Enter the birthtime as given by the person and adjust for daylight saving by subtracting 1 hour from the time zone option? Am asking because both ways obviously can give different charts. Many thanks in advance.... kind regards -K
Guest guest
|| Hare Rama Krsna || Dear Sir/Madam, Namaskar. The birth time is a composite of the time entered and the time entered and details entered under Time zone. Any one can be adjusted suitably to get the correct chart. Given the place and the date/month, J Hora automatically calculates the time zone and whether Daylight Saving is applicable at the time zone at that period of the year or not. If you change the dates/month you will see sometimes 'Day Light Saving" or 'Standard Time' appears/disappears when applicable. For old charts, Day light saving may not be applicable for it is rather a recent phenomenon. So one has to be careful about that. Guest guest
Dear Sourav and Neeraj, and others, Thank you for your replies. Now I am really stuck!! Consider this: If the details are: Dob 29 July 1965 Time: 19:55 Place: Kenya (therefore under normal time it is +3hrs east of GMT) If you adjust for daylight saving by subtracting 1hr and entering time of birth as 18:55 and leave the time zone to +3hrs east of GMT, then the rasi chart comes up with Capricorn lagna. If however you enter birthtime as given ie 19:55, and change the timezone to read +2hrs east of GMT, (ie subracting 1hr frm the timezone), then the lagna changes Aquarious. Which is correct??!! kind regards -K sohamsa , Neeraj Gupta <gupta_neeraj_2000 wrote: > > Hi, > > According to me Option B is correct. > > Regards, > > Neeraj > > k_z006 <k_z006 wrote: > Namaste, > > I know this is a really simple question bordering on stupid but in J > Hora software, would you please tell me if: > > 1. Guest guest
|| Hare Raama Krsna || Dear Sri K_Z, Namaskar. The difficulty you are talking about is arising because of confusion of reference. When such confusion arises, please always use the constant reference which is not subject to changes. This time reference is GMT which is not subject to Daylight Saving. 1. TOB: 19:55 (+3 hrs GMT) is same as 16:55 GMT 2. TOB 18:55 (+3 hrs GMT) is same as 15:55 GMT 3. TOB 19:55 (+2 hrs GMT) is same as 17:55 GMT So, you see that these three cases are actually producing different times. But Case 1. can be written as 20:00 (+4 hrs GMT) or 18:55 (+2 hrs GMT) to produce 16:55 GMT. This means that increase the birthtime plus increasing the Timezone by same amount of time nullifies the change. Now, I used Nairobi, Kenya for your example. I am finding that JHora does not show Daylight Saving time for Nairobi, Kenya at all. I also checked www.timeanddate.com it doesn't show that Kenya time is subjected to DST either. So are you sure DST needed in your case ? Anyway, if you need DST for other cases, do not change birth time, just change the Time Zone accordingly. You *can* change the birth time and time zone both but you have to do the corrections properly which can end up confusing you. So just change the time zone, leave the birth time at 19:55. If you use 19:55 (+3 hrs GMT) at *Nairobi* you will get Kumbha lagna with Shani in Lagna. You have not mentioned a specific birth place.
