The Lagna is given a planetary status in Astakavrga, the talk is only about

*Lagna* and NOT about its *bhava*.

Since*Lagna* is being treated more as a planet than that of Ragu and Ketu,

this has prompted a doubt in the mind of a Software dependent Astrologer and

posed the following query “What is an ascendant? Is it a notional point like

Ragu and Ketu or a planet by itself?”

 

Our concise explanations are: It is a general faith and perception in the

world that SUN raises in the EAST and sets in WEST. SUN IN THE HOROSCOPE

INDICATES ITS ANCHOR POINT WITH IN ITS DAILY MOVEMENT OF ONE arc DEGREE PER DAY.

The earlier classic and ASTROLOGERS opine that SUN traverses through all the

TWELVE raises from one Sun raise to another / SUN walks(WITH IN ITS DAILY

MOVEMENT OF ONE arc DEGREE PER DAY) over through the twelve Rasis(in the

prescribed time scale/Rasimaanaa) in a day from every Sun rise to next Sun rise

and UDAYA LAGNA / ASCENDANT IS THE ANCHOR POINT OF SUN[is with in the above

referred one degree] DURING A GIVEN MUKURTHA (EVENT) in a day between one Sun

rise to another.

The rational behind the computation of Lagna would explain that *Lagna* is

*Sun*/ represents SUN.
