Dear Voya:

Very nice to meet you.

How well do you know your Jyotish?

Have you had many charts done, previously?

I'm especially fascinated by the fact that there seem to be two primary aspects of Astrology.

Whether we look at Western or Eastern...or what I like to call Nature's Astrology...

There is the part of Astrology that has to do with helping us understand ourselves.

I call it the Understanding about Jyotish or Astrology.

Then, there is the even more important aspect, which I like to call Transformation.

To me, this is even the more important aspect, though one that is very sorely neglected.

Those of us, in the self-improvement field, who meditate, who do many things to uplift and unfold our Consciousness' are not only at the forefront of the self-improvement field...

we are also laying ground for great 'research' into that most important aspect of Jyotish Transformation.

This aspect of Vedic science has been much lost over the last few centuries.

Instead Eastern Astrology without the sweet, uplifting aspects of Guru!, got dominated by the Saturn side of life.

So, instead of leading people to the fulfillment of their life's purposes, Jyotish ended up focusing on the fatalistic, Saturn side of life.

That's why you'll see too much 'Jyotish' associated with either fate, or " I'm sorry you'll never have this " , or even negative and pessimistic sentiments.

Western Astrology, on the other hand, free from this cultural bias, that's dominated Indian culture also, for centuries, believes in growth, opportunity, change, even transformation.

Western Culture has been a shining example of the power to grow and transmute!

Now, today, we're in the middle of a great 'blending' of both cultures.

And hopefully, out of this 'blending' will emerge the best of both, West & East.

I'm a little nervous when I see young people in the East, emmulating the 'worst' of the West...

but....over time, only the good will prevail!

Here, at our Nature's Astrology site, we're going to focus on those 'goodnesses'....

So, I'd be interested in any stories of your own kinds of transformation.

My particular, and what I feel, most unique insight and contribution, into Jyotish has been around the nature of the Malefics!

Jyotish has this great Understanding, that we have both benefics and malefics.

Though, most of the time, that 'malefic' category, again, has gotten wrapped up and around that 'fatalistic' quality.

However, again, being from the meditative, self-improvement genre, it occured to me, that maybe the malefics, aren't the great 'negativities' that we're so often lead to believe...

Like the normal connotations of Mars or Saturn!,...

Though they're normally very negative, it's occured to me that perhaps, there are some blessings in disguise, there that are very important...

This kind of thinking, eventually, lead me to discover this!

The Malefics are not just symbolic of our problems, challenges, griefs, losses and disappointments...

The MALEFIFICS, also, are the the area of our greatest opportunities, and the malefics, themselves, are indicative, of the very Solutions that we're looking for!

I'll give just one example here.

Take Mars for example.

Maybe we've got Mars in the first, 4th or 7th, and the subsequent challenges with either too much fire in the body, or in the heart, or in our interpersonal relations.

On the surface, it appears, this Jyotish configuration is, itself, the problem.

But, in fact, it's just symbolic of the problem...

The problem, is really, that we were born, with an imbalance of Mars, energy.

And the real solution is to 'BALANCE MARS'....

Again, the malefics, are not just symbolic of the problem, but, they're also symbolic of the Solution!

Because once you've understood, your real problem, and you take steps, to bring that 'Mars' under control, then the symptom, of that supposedly, insurmountable, Mars, challenge....goes away!

Take High blood pressure for example, or a number of other Pitta, or Mars related dis-eases, often associated with Mars in the 1st House, of the body.

Well, if you had gone to an Ayurvedic doctor, he would not have said, 'Oh, your problem is unfixable. You'll just have to get used to it.' Or, he might have said, go feed the birds, on an important good Jyotish day!'

The truth is, Ayurvedic has understood very clearly, that the doshas of Vatta, Pitta & Kapha, are at the base of all problems in the Physiology.

So, many prescriptions of balancing 'pitta' are suggested for this pitta imbalance of high blood pressure, ....

and lo and behold the problem goes away!

Like that, in Jyotish, our particular challenge are to find the great Mars' remedies, that will go to the heart of the Mars dosha, or imbalance, or malefic quality of Mars.

We should not think, that our malefic configurations cannot be changed.

Instead we should know, .... we were, in fact, born to discover them!

Welcome again,

Sorry, my 'greeting' here is so long.

Had a great meditation this morning and filled with all the great power of Jyotish!

hehhe

Hope others in our group, pick up on this discussion as well.

So, feel free to keep emailing in.

If I'm not always available, there are many other available in our nice group that'll help too.

Remember there are these 2 most important areas of Jyotish...

Understanding.... and

Transformation....

When we're thinking of Jyotish, or contemplating our own charts,..... put our thoughts into the context of these 2 great categories,... and even while we're focusing on the Understanding part, ....

let's not forget the importance of 'what to do' about it!

or the transformative part!

It's the real key to Jyotish,...

as it is in real life!

ciao
