Dear Group,

Older members will recall the discussions we've had, over the years,

regarding the physiological indications of the signs/bhavas. Recently,

whilst searching the archives for a particular reference, I came across the

following thread that may be of interest to newer members...see below

message #1831 (Dec 13 2005)

Dear Sateesh,

You've been a member of JV for many years and I'm wondering why you didn't

respond to the physiological indications for Sagittarius/9th when this was

being discussed back then?...just curious :-)

Dear JK,

///What are the likely Major period, sub period one should expect

disease ? What are the Transits that trigger disease/operation ?///

Here are some basic rules that should help :-)

Rule 1:

The part of the body represented by the Sign/Bhava i.e. Aries/1st

house, Taurus/2nd house, Gemini/3rd house etc., can be afflicted if

occupied/aspected by a malefic planet. This manifestation will be

even more likely if that sign has become the 8th house (vulnerable

point). Likewise the disease(s) represented by a benefic graha can

manifest if that graha is afflicted and, again, this is more likely

to occur when 8th house is involved.

Rule 2:

The Ascendant and his dispositor shows the body and physical well-

being (the physical constitution, prikriti,.vrikriti etc..) This has

to be judged in conjunction with any other indications.

Medical Astrology is not a separate issue...the basics are given in

BPHS! Understanding the basics; the limbs of kalapurusha and the

basic significations of the bhavas/grahas is what's necessary. Common

sense tells us that disease may manifest during the period of an

afflicted graha/bhava and, if this happens to be connected with 8th

house, then the disease is likely to be chronic in nature.

The more familiar one becomes with the basic tenets of jyotish, the

more one realises that everything is covered in those basic rules.

Medical astrology, mundane astrology (or whatever) are not separate

issues at all.

Some general indications:

* Mars is an indicator of surgery and of 'acute' illnesses.

* Saturn's influence suggests things that are longer lasting.

* 12th house indicates hospitalisation.

* 6th house signifies ill-health in general.

Whatever the disease indicated; the Ascendant, Asc lord and/or Sun

need to be affected in some way.

///Is there any good site for Medical Astrology ?Please do reply///

There are many websites devoted to Ayurveda/Jyotish; some claiming

expertise in medical astrology... most have conflicting opinions. My

advice is to stick with the basics and learn in this way. Parashara

tells us;

Ch. 4:

4-4 1/2. LIMBS OF KALAPURUSHA:

The time personified has his limbs as under with reference to the 12

signs respectively: Head, face, arms, heart, stomach, hip, space

below navel, privities, thighs, knees, ankles, and feet.

*Some additional Physiological indications:

SIGN/HOUSE:

Aries/First

Head, Brain, forehead

*Digestive fire, venereal or bilious disease, constipation, deafness,

headache, insomnia, mental tension, stammering.

--------------------

Taurus/Second

Face, Neck (All organs of Face and Neck).

*Reproductive vigour, production of semen, female bareness, disease

of bronchial tube.

--------------------

Gemini/Third

Shoulders, Arms, Hands/Palms, Wrists, Nipples, Ears.

*Indecision, asthma.

--------------------

Cancer/Fourth

Heart, Chest, Lungs.

*Worried mind, heart disease, impurity of blood, cold.

--------------------

Leo/Fifth

Stomach Liver, Gallbladder, Spleen, Navel, Pancreas, Kidney.

*Indigestion, enlargement of liver, reduced fertility, anger, greed

--------------------

Virgo/Sixth

Hips/Back, Waist, Small intestine.

*Indigestion, pain in back.

--------------------

Libra/Seventh

Space below navel/Abdomen, Belly, Bladder, Large intestine, Buttocks.

*Urinary disease, diabetes.

--------------------

Scorpio/Eighth

Privy parts, Generative and Excretory organs.

*Venereal disease, water in stomach, restlessness, anger, over-

sensitiveness.

--------------------

Sagittarius/Ninth

Thighs.

*Problems due to weather changes, greed, restlessness.

--------------------

Capricorn/Tenth

Knees.

*Reluctance, cold, skin disease, hypertension.

--------------------

Aquarius/Eleventh

Calves, Ankles.

*Rheumatism, heart trouble, heat in body, self-indulgence.

--------------------

Pisces/Twelfth

Feet

*Diseases related to urine, stomach or skin, pain in joints,

dysentery.

Everyone gets sick at some time in their lives. However there have to

be strong indications for someone to develop chronic, or serious

illness(s).

A good example of this can be seen in my own horoscope (a totally

objective/impersonal look) with YogaKaraka Venus badly afflicted in

8th house. Venus is in sign of Grt.En., is combust 8th lord Sun

(karaka for lagna), and is aspected by Saturn and Mars. Although in

moolatrikona sign, Sun himself is suffering in this situation as both

Sun and Venus are in Venus' constellation...these two are mutually

inimicable and their conjunction is not good for either.

1st/2nd lord Saturn (dispositor of Ketu) in 6th house of disease

denotes difficult to diagnose medical problems (in general) as a

general trend in life, and his aspect indicates the problems

encompassed in 8th would generally be long lasting. The aspect of

Mars indicates surgical intervention, and certainly surgical

procedures have been prolific.

I point this out only to show that, although everyone gets sick from

time to time (depending on transits etc), chronic disease or

persistent ill-health (generally) will stand out in the

chart...cannot be missed :-)

Although I don't like giving predictions (for anyone - myself and

family included) I am well aware of the upcoming Ketu dasa in lagna

(head/brain) with F/M Jupiter aspecting from 7th house. But this is

really nothing more than a casual observation as I've grown

accustomed to being a passive witness to the unfoldment of karma. For

better anyway to focus on the moksha indications...either way, God's

Will Be Done :-))

Best Wishes,

Mrs. Wendy

Dear Wendy,

Being a member of so many lists, it is not always possible to respond/read every

mail/line in detail! :-)

Best - Sateesh.

Dear Sateesh,

Yes, indeed! I can fully understand that. Hence, except for the (very) rare

occasion, usually when someone alerts me to something relevant, do I ever

venture a look at other groups...

Best Wishes,

Mrs. Wendy
