varun ji,

i have seen that LK practitioners have different opinion

about this remedy. One is that the nose should be punctured in

dividing line in the centre. 2nd is that the side round should be the

point. Further confusion on left side or right side. Does the point

differs for male or female. What is the best age to perform this

remedy. Going through the archives i see a message that it is better

to perform this remedy away from presence of the sunlight. Kindly

clear this confusion as this is the remedy most suggested and still no

unanimity about the procedure.

Dear Kulbir bhai,

Nose as a body part has been identified as a karak object of Jupiter [ 1939 urdu ed ; page 112 and also 1952 urdu ed; page 1002 ]

But the front portion of the nose [ naak ka sira , agala hissa ] has been identified as the karak of mercury [ 1952 urdu ed; page 1004 ]

Since the upaya of getting the nose pierced is done to drain out the poison of mercury, therefore it has to be done in the front part of the nose.

Traditionally women get their nose pierced on the nostrils, left nostril in the north and the right nostril in the south.

Since the nostrils are the front part of the nose, we should accept piercing the nostril for mercury upaya. By doing so, we will keep ourselves within the socially accepted tradition. Even otherwise the Lal Kitab upaya have an origin in age old traditions.

As for the left or right nostril is concerned, we do not distinguish between the two on the basis of gender. We believe that the entire area of nostril belongs to mercury. Therefore if we were to suggest a nose piercing to a north Indian lady we would suggest the left nostril and for a lady from the south the right nostril, so that the upaya doesnâ€™t stand out as an oddity and is done without any inhibition.

When the piercing is done as an upaya then another thing we are particular about is that any thing of silver [ moon ] can be worn and not of gold [ Jupiter ]. When the piercing is done as a tradition then any thing might be worn.

There are some who suggest that the front of the nose partition be pierced, it is their interpretation and we have no arguments with them.

We would be very wary of suggesting any upaya which may not find traditional sanction in the society.

Dear Kulbir bhai,

The best or an appropriate time would be when it is verified that

the Mercury is acting malefic. It could be at any age.

Mercury is a tricky planet and should not be played around with

unless it is certain that an upaya is needed.

Kulbir Bhai Jee,

Lagta hai ki aap hum bachon ka imtihan le rahe ho , aapke mind mein yeh zaroor hoga ki LAL KITAB mein kahin pada hoga ki Nak Chhedan 12 se 16 saal ki umar mein ek baar zaroor karwaye (apna ya apne bachoon ka). lekin aap page no vagarah bhool rahe honge(mein bhee nahi janta ).

Isko aap iss tarah samjhe ki jaise bacho ko bimarion se bachne ke liye (BCG,POLIO & SMALL OX,CHIKEN POX) injection lagaye jate hai ussi tarah aap bhee apne bachon ka woh chahe male ho ya female dono ka 12 se 16 saal tak nak chhedan avash karwaye.iske baad 17va saal (34 ka half) aap samajh gaye honge ki 16 saal tak naak chhedan kyon zaroori hai.

Respected Mahajan ji,

It is unfair that you charge Kulbir ji for testing our ability by

asking an innocent question.

We know Kulbir ji is not an arrogant man who likes to belittle some

one by intentionally asking a question whose answer he already knows.

Queries to test the knowledge of others are placed by people who

lack self confidence and get vicarious pleasure from doing so.

Kulbir ji is a man of tremendous self confidence and a gentleman to

Respected mahajan ji,

jab aap jaisa vidwan jo din ke 20 tewe dekhta ho

bhool jaye ki yeh kahan likha hai to mere jaise student se yeh galti

ho jaye to kshamayog hai. I was concerned about my children. My budh

is in 11 and my son has it 9. U personaly know about this fact. I even

consulted u about it in our last meeting and then only i was not

satisfied about the suggested point of penetration. It was out of

respect that i didn't counter ur opinion then and there. But being an

important remedy and in larger interest, i posted it here. Plz don't

take it personally. As per ur advice in future i will not post my

querry straightaway but first go through the book.

Dear Kulbir bhai,

At least I have not come across any reference in the Lal Kitab which

suggests that piercing of the nose be done for every one,

irrespective of a girl or a boy, as a preventive measure against the

Mercury without really knowing whether it is malefic or not.

As I had said earlier, Mercury is a tricky planet and needs careful

handling. It should not be played around with. In my opinion, the

best preemptive upaya for mercury, if at all needed, will be to do

its â€˜paalanaâ€™.

Kulbir Jee,

Mein pehle hee mafi maang chuka hoon, abb rahi baat ki nak chhedan kaise

ho iss par LAL KITAB ke jitne vidhwan aapko millenge utne hee vichar

milenge.

Nak chhean kaise ho, jaise amuman ladies ka nak chhedan hota hai ya fir

centre se .iske alag alag logic hain.

1... Female ka jaise hota hai vaise hee karwaya jaye iss par sab sehmat

hain.

2... Male ka koi kehta hai ki ladies ki hee tarah kiya jaye to koi kehta

hai ki centre se kiya jaye. Unka logic hai ki jaise baeil (OXE) ko kabu

mein karne ke liye uss ke nathune mein lagam daal kar kabu kiya jata hai

vaise hee yahan par Male ke liye budh ko kabu karne ke liye centre se

nak chhedan kiya jaye.

3... Mera apna vichar hai ki Pt. jee yeh jante theiy ki Male ko nak

chhedan ajeeb lagega iss liye unho ne yahan par 2 condtion rakh di ki

nak chhedan 96 din kiya jaye (isko aap female ke liye le sakte hain) ya

fir kum se kum 96 ghante ( isko aap male ke liye le sakte hain). Lekin

yeh kahin nahi hai ki aap nak chhedan ke baad sunlight mein nahi

niklenge. Aisa koi parhez nahi.Agar aap chahe to nak chhedan ke upper

BAND AID vagairah bhee laga sakte hain.lekin itna dhayan rahe ki jo

chandi pehni jaye woh pure ho.

Varun ji,

ur words that purpose of this remedy is to drain out the

poison of mercury so the front part is preferable are invaluable.

Pardon me for thinking loud. Can the point be nosetip i.e. protuding

most centre portion of the nose instead of the joining tip just above

the lip. About mahajan ji's inputs, i respect the experience of such

persons which could be a sort of cummulative knowledge. But it should

be verified before application.

Respected mahajan ji,

andhere wali baat aap se hi suni thi. Man ko

jachi logic tak abhi nahin pahunch paya. I asked my friend(30 years

elder to me) about this remedy and he had yet another logic. Yaar

jithe marji binwa ke challa pua dao, jad vi shishe ch munh dekhu, yaad

aau bi mera budh kharab hai te isnu thik rakhna hai. Paalna as varun

ji suggested. Sir u have a treasure of knowledge. Plz keep on sharing.

about ur opinion that such remedy should not be

done before weighing pros and cons reminds me of umesh ji's statement

that such action could be very much alike SOE PADE SHER KO THAPAD

MARNA.

Dear Kulbir bhai,

As we all believe that the Lal Kitab remedies are based primarily on

collective folk wisdom, the piercing of the nose too should be done

as has always been done and that is on the nostrils. Getting the

nose tip pierced would be bizarre.

I too respect and value the contributions made by Mahajan ji. He is

like a siddha Vaidya, who may not be able to quote the scriptures,

but has a treasure of experience based empirical knowledge. I have

great respect for him.

Dear Kulbir bhai,

'andhera' is not desirable. On the contrary :

budh nazar jab ravi ho karta, darza drishti koi ho

asar bhala sab do ka hoga, sehat, maya, ya dimaghi ho

[ 1952 urdu ed; page 528 ]

Not only that Mercury will be 'nadarad' or ' suraj ke sath chup hoga' [ 1952 urdu ed; page 538 ]

Therefore it is all the more reason that the person who had got the nose pierced should not avoid day light.

Dear Kulbir bhai,

You are absolutely right that let the sleeping lion alone.

Even otherwise the book says:

"mande budh wale ko naak chhedan karwana aur fitkari vagairah se daant saaf karna ya larkiyon ki poojana sewa karna madadgar hoga" [ 1952 urdu ed; page 531; note # 6 ]

The upaya has been suggested for those who have a manda budh i.e. the upaya should be done only when it is ascertained that the mercury is acting malefic.

If the mercury is not acting malefic it should be left alone.
