With no reference to thought or memory, where is any mind?

Prior to your conception by your mother and father, what astonishment did

you feel? What sense of existence did you have?

And yet: this is.

Why do you ask: Prior to your conception by your mother and father, what

astonishment did you feel?

1) A variation on the Zen koan: What was your original face before you were

conceived by your parents?

2) A variation on statements made by Nisargadatta about how he never was born;

that who he is, is not dependent on having been conceived physically; that even

the most basic sense of " I am " is released.

3) Mostly, because inquiry involves understanding that doesn't depend on

feelings or even the most simple sense of existing.

But it seems that the body/mind must participate in this understanding (what

a sensless statement...). And the body/mind feels, perceives, senses...it

may even fell emotions...

Nisargadatta didn't teach people to band together in a cult following.

Followers are followers.

If you want this thing......you will have to leave all your teachers behind and

strike out into the Great Unknown-Unknowable......alone.

Yup... there's nothing outside this, and so nothing inside this.

I know you like to say the opposite, that there's nothing inside, and so nothing

outside... same difference :-p.

Truth is we're quite arrogant with life, billions of life forms dying in us,

around us and yet we keep on keeping on.

I've heard it said that the body is made up of 100 trillion cells (give or take one or three) constantly struggling to stay healthy, repair themselves, duplicate, and carry out their intended functioning. If memory serves correctly, a hundred million or more die off in the process or are intentionally killed off (apoptosis) every day...so the body is a house of merciless slaughter all in the name of trying to stay alive (continue as a certain form and function). Deathing is birthing, ending is beginning, departing is arriving, ad infinitum it seems to me!
