Guest guest Report post Posted June 21, 2003 When we think about surrendering, the only thing we probably don't include in the list is ours believes. Our believes are like ours skin, our first and most important line of defense. And like a snake, we outgrow, shed and acquire a more protective set of believes. Do we ever stop to think how this shedding and acquiring effect reality? Do Christians have souls, while Buddhist don't? Is there an afterlife for believers only? If you believe in something, you can be certain you are protecting something. Would it not make sense to take a look at what you are trying to protect? What is it? Does it need protection? Is it there at all? What are you protecting it from? And, finally, does believing protect you from anything but uncertainty? We need to believe because we need to be reassured about the future. We want to feel that we will have a future and that it will be good. The present is never enough. Is it? Why? Just asking. If these questions are disturbing forget about them.
