Introduction

 

Being born in Kuruba community Kanakadasaru

became the staunch follower of the Sri Madhwacharya’s philosophy .

Kanakadasa was impressed by the words of the Sri Vyasarajaru . Kanakadasaru was

closely associated with SriVysarayaru and with Sri Purandaradasaru. Because of

their encouragement and  inspirations  he has written many Kruthigalu,Ughabogalu,Mandigegalu 

and became famous among the Haridasas. He  occupied an important position in

Sri Madhwacharya’s Galaxay of Haridasas. Vyasarajaru was fond of

“Sri Kanaka†Sri Vyasarajaru  used to clear lot of doubts of Sri

Kanakadasaru and helped him to achieve his goal in the philosophy. Sri

Kanakadasaru was fond of Belur Channakeshava  Sri Kanakadasaru spent 10 years

in Belur in serving the Lord Sri Channakeshava. This is one work which written

in the Belur.  Dasaru has written many Devaranamas with the Ankithanama as

Adikeshava . Most of the Kruthis are based on the Vairgya. He is believed to be

amsa of Yama. Dasaru lived for 98 years.

 

 Some of the works of Sri Kanakadasaru

are Sri Haribhakthisara which is written in Bhamini Shatpadhi chandasu ,MohanaTarangani,Nalacharite,Narasimha

Avathara,Ramayanam charithe

 

Sri Kanakadasaru has lot of reverence

and love towards Lord Sri Hari which is uncountable and has expressed his love

in the form of beautiful poetry  titled Sri HariBhakthisara. The HariBhakthisara is the essence of

devotion to Lord Sri Hari as name indicates. And the whole HariBhakthisara.

Deals with the importance of   the Supreme Lord Sri Hari and advises us to

perform our duties to the Lord Sri Hari. Without fail. Sri Kanakadasaru

referred Ramayana, Mahabharatha, Bhagavatha and other relevant stories to write

this HariBhakthisara.

 

HariBhakthisara. Consists of 108 slokas

plus 3 slokas of Mangala with chorus line “DEva Raksisu Nammana anavarta.

We can divide HariBhakthisara in five parts. In the first part Sri Kanakadasaru

has described the Anantha qualities of Lord Sri Hari like  property ,Energy ,

Destroying of Demons explained in the 17 slokas. In the second part  he has

described why he wrote this HariBhakthisara and he prays Lord Sri Hari to give him

strength and take him to the Mookthipath .

 

 In the third part he has explained

various mahimas of SriHari and he has quoted many references  from Ramayana

,Mahabharatha,Bhagavatha,Harivamsha and other Puranas.

 

In the fourth part Sri Kanakadasaru

described about the life of the Human qualities like Strength, weakness . He

also talk about ego of humans how to escape from all these qualities.

 

In the last part dasaru  has described

the importance of  the  reciting Haribhakthisara .

In the opening sloka Sri Kanakadasaru

starts by admiring the Lord Sri Hari  like this Hey Lakshmi Pathi you have

praised the Ganga’s  Son Bheeshma

pithamaha and praised by the Pandavas Oh Lord you are the son of  Devaki.  As

SriRama you are affectionate   and you showers love towards the MahaJnanis .

You are so beautiful like Belur Sri Channakeshava Oh Sri Krishna always protect

us.
