That Dasarathar had a daughter is true and is mentioned in Valmiki's Ramayanam.

 

In Srimad Ramayanam Bala kAndam Sargam 9, Sumantrar recollects about Sanatkumarar's words to Dasarathar that king Romapada will give his daughter ShanthA in marriage to Rushyashrungar to get rid of drought in his country (anga desam) and also that Dasartahar would get sons if Rushyashrungar does yaagam.

 

" SanathkumAro bhagawAn pUrvam kathitavAn kathAm "   Bala kandam -- Sargam 9 . 2

 

" EtasminnEva kAle tu rOmapAda: pratapavAn

angEshu pratitO rAja bhavishyati sudArunA " Bala Kandam 9.8

 

" Rushyashrungasthu Jaamatha putrAmstava vidhAsyati!

 SanatkumArakathitamevAtad vyahrutam maya!! " Valmiki Ramayanam -- Bala kandam -- Sargam 9 --verse 19

 

Rushyashrungasthu Jaamatha --> Here Rishyashrungar is addressed as Jaamatha (son-in-law) to King Dasarathar also. Dasarathar had given his Shantha in adoption to King ROmapAda. 

 

Hence it is true that Dasarathar had a daughter named " Shantha "

It is nice you raised the subject. The Puthrakameshti yagam of King Dasratha was said to have been conducted by his son in law Rishyasringar. Of course, King Dasaratha could have crowned Kumari Shantai as his heir Queen. Then the world would have lost Ramayana, the chiranjeevi Episode and the Moral code for the humanity.

Thus the Parabrahmam has extremely been kind to us. To show our gratitude, we need to follow the principles enunciated.

Have already clarified. Hope these may also help you. Lack of adiyen's Sanskrit knowledge which prevented me studying Valmiki in original is the cause for all the confusion.

Of course, King Dasaratha could have crowned Kumari Shantai as his heir Queen. Then the world would have lost Ramayana, the chiranjeevi Episode and the Moral code for the humanity.

That Dasarathar had a daughter is true and is mentioned in Valmiki's Ramayanam.

 

In Srimad Ramayanam Bala kAndam Sargam 9, Sumantrar recollects about Sanatkumarar's words to Dasarathar that king Romapada will give his daughter ShanthA in marriage to Rushyashrungar to get rid of drought in his country (anga desam) and also that Dasartahar would get sons if Rushyashrungar does yaagam.

 

" SanathkumAro bhagawAn pUrvam kathitavAn kathAm "   Bala kandam -- Sargam 9 . 2

 

" EtasminnEva kAle tu rOmapAda: pratapavAn

angEshu pratitO rAja bhavishyati sudArunA " Bala Kandam 9.8

 

" Rushyashrungasthu Jaamatha putrAmstava vidhAsyati!

 SanatkumArakathitam evAtad vyahrutam maya!! " Valmiki Ramayanam -- Bala kandam -- Sargam 9 --verse 19

 

 

 

 

Rushyashrungasthu Jaamatha --> Here Rishyashrungar is addressed as Jaamatha (son-in-law) to King Dasarathar also. Dasarathar had given his Shantha in adoption to King ROmapAda. 

 

Hence it is true that Dasarathar had a daughter named " Shantha "

The author says this is found in Vasishta Ramayan, also known as Jnana Ramayana , was written by sage Valmiki himself. The article is attached as word document for you to comment on it.
