Should it be performed on july 14th or later. Also nothing is mentioned about the time. Usually I use Shri. Sundar Kidambi's procedures or Shri. Mani Varadarjans procedures to perform Avani Avittam. Your question is really valid one. This is to inform you that the Upakarmam Japam (Kamokarshit) for this year is to be followed on 13-07-2003 Sunday being the Pournima day. And the Gayathri Japam is to be followed on 12-08-2003 Tuesday as per (Sri Ranganatha Paduka - May 2003) issue clearly. There is no doubt of this. In case of any doubt you can also contact this matter with Srirangan Srimad AAndavan Aashramam, Alwarpet, Madras 4 and their tel. phone is (044) - 2499 3658 during working hours which please note. We (myself and my son's family at US (NC) are also going to follow this only on the above dates only and there is no doubt of this. I hope that I have cleared ur doubt to the some extent. Timing preferably in the morning after Sunrise as you to sight the sun before you performe Pratas Sandhya and thereafter Madhyanikam and then Gayatri Japam. Regards.
