15. dheekshithaan jatilaan mundaan gojinaambaravaasasaH

dharbhamushtiharaNaan

agnikundaauyuDhaan thaThaa

 

(Hanumaan saw various

types of rakshasas described by Valmiki in these slokas.)

 

Those who were on the vow

of yajna, dheekshithaan,

those wearing

matted hair,

jatilaan, those with shaven heads, mundaan, those wearing cow's skin, gojina (Cow's skin) ambara (clothing) vaasasaH, (wearing) those having

dharbha grass in their fists, dharbhamushtiharaNaan, those

having the fire pit as their weapon, agnikundaauyuDhaan, meaning , for them who perform

yagas the agnikunda is their weapon to accomplish their desires, (this shows that even in the capital of

rakshasas there were people perhaps Brahmins or rakshasas who performed yajnas

and other austerities.)

 

16.kootamudhgara paaNeen cha dhandaayuDhaDharaanapi

ekaakshaan eka

karNaan cha lambhodharapayoDharaan

 

Those having anvil , koota,like

weapon, or staff , dhanda, in hand, those having one eye, ekaaksha,

or one ear, ekakarNa, those having hanging, lamba, stomach and

breasts, udharapayoDahra,

 

17. DhanvinaH khadginaSchaiva SathaghneemusalayuDhaan

Karaalaan

bhugnavakthraan cha vikataan vamanaan

thaThaa

Those with bow, Dhanu,

and sword, khadga, having the weapons called Sathaghnee ( like

firearms), and mortar, musala, those who looked fearful, karaaLa,

with swollen mouths, bhugnavakthra, those who were funny-looking, vikata,

and dwarfs, vaamana,

 

18. parighotthama

hasthaan cha vichithrakavachojjvalaan

naathisThoolaan naathikrSaan

naathidheerghaathihrasvakaan

 

 

Those having iron beam, parighaa,

in their hands, wearing strange armour, vichithrakavachaan,

neither bulky, athsThoola, nor

thin, athikrSna, , neither tall, athidheerghaa nor short, hrasva.

 

 

19. naathigouraan nathi krshNaan naathi kubjaan na

Vaamanaan

Viroopaan

bahuroopaan cha suropaan cha suvarchasaH

 

Those who were neither

very fair skinned, athigoura, nor

very dark,athikrshNa, neither

hunchbacked, kubja, nor dwarfs, vaamana, those who were hideous, viroopa,

those who could taka many forms, bahuroopa, also those who had good form

and with luster,

 

20. Dhvajeen pathakinaSchaivadhadharSa viviDhaayuDhaan

SakthivrkshaayuDhaan chaiva pattiSaaSaniDhaariNaH

 

Those

who were wielding big flags, Dhavajeen, and small ones, pathakinaH,

those wearing the Sakkti aayuDha and trees as a weapon and those wielding spears

and sharp weapon like vajrayudha.

 

dhadharSa – Hanuman saw ,

the verb for the slokas 15 to 20 is given here which is to be applied to each

sloka.
