Dear Sir,

My one mail is still unanswered. Can I give Ahutis for Ratri Suktam, Devi Suktam, 4th Chapter and 11th Chapter independantly? I mean any of these four independantly ?

While Chandi Homam you have omitted Devi Suktam and Ratri Suktam from Ahutis in your Manual. This reading has created this question in my mind.r.Ashwin Rawal

Namaste,Ravi and Utpal have replied to you. I will leave the questions they have already replied too. As Ravi said, the amount of materials you need depends on how big a fire you maintain. You will learn and fine-tune with experience. There may be a tradition in some parts of India to offer a drop of ghee in water after offering it in fire. But it is not necessary. When doing Chandi homam, some people invoke the Mother in an idol and offer water to the idol with each mantra along with offering ghee in fire. Again, it is not necessary.Managing ahutis and reading is difficult, but one can master it with practice. It is really advisable for you to do both reading and offering ahutis yourself.Wooden spoon is perfectly alright.Best regards,Narasimha------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -Do a Short Homam Yourself: http://www.VedicAst rologer.org/ homamDo Pitri Tarpanas Yourself: http://www.VedicAst rologer.org/ tarpanaSpirituality: http://groups. / group/vedic- wisdomFree Jyotish lessons (MP3): http://vedicastro. home.comcast. netFree Jyotish software (Windows): http://www.VedicAst rologer.orgSri Jagannath Centre (SJC) website: http://www.SriJagan nath.org------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- - - "DHEERAJ

Dear Sir,

One more question for Homam.

Suppose I am giving 12 Ahutis daily to Maha Ganpati with (Aum, Shrim, Hrim Klim.....Vashamanaya Swaha) Maha Ganapati Mantra, is it necessary that I have to speak - Idam Maha Ganapataye, Idam Na Mama - after each Ahuti?

Or It is OK if I give 12 Ahutis first with the Mantras only and I will speak -Idam Maha Ganpataye,Idam Na Mama - only once at the last after 12th Ahuti is completed?Dr.Ashwin Rawal--- On Tue, 6/1/09, m540i98 <m540i98 wrote:

Namaste,

There is no need to say that. Just add swaahaa first 11 times and vaushat in the 12th time.

Saying "this is for XYZ god and not mine" after the mantra is needed if we are using fire to send generic aahutis to various deities like Prajapati, Agni, Vayu etc. If we invoke a specific deity in fire and worship him and then offer aahutis for him, you can merely read the mantra and add swaahaa. No need to specifically say "this is for XYZ god and not mine" after each mantra.

Dear Sir,

Certain words I can not understand properly as these words are new for me. In your reply you have written that ....

"If we invoke a specifice deity in fire and worship him and then offer Ahutis...."

Here what is the meaning of Invoking? If the meaning is inviting then I am not doing that. Directly I am starting homam with Adhaar Ahutis of Surya, Prajapati, Indra, Agni and soma. Then directly giving 12 ahutis of Maha Ganapati Mantra, then immediately 24 Gayatri Mantra for Gayatri and like one by one in continuance. Specially I am not inviting any deity in fire.

Dear Sir,

One more question for Homam.

Suppose I am giving 12 Ahutis daily to Maha Ganpati with (Aum, Shrim, Hrim Klim.....Vashamanay a Swaha) Maha Ganapati Mantra, is it necessary that I have to speak - Idam Maha Ganapataye, Idam Na Mama - after each Ahuti?

Namaste Ashwin Ji,

Are you doing the Homa as per the Mahaganapati Manual by Narasimha?

if yes, then in that manual, there are FEW verses which are related

to Invocation of MahaGanapati.

" SHRI MAHAGANAPATI PRAAN PRATISHTHAPAN MANNTRASYA. GANAK RUSHI..... "

" AAM, HREEM, KROUNM, YAM, RAM, LAM,SHAM.....SHRI MAHAGANAPATI PRAAN

SHAKTYEI NAMAH "

" AAVAAHITO BHAV, STHAPITOBHAV, SANNIHITO BHAV.... "

The above clearly explains that one is welcoming Shri MahaGanapati

from one's Heart to enter into Fire & Idol. One is requesting The

lord to stay in the fire (and idol if applicable) till homa

conclusion and accept the aahutis offered.

warm regards,

Utpal

Namaste,

You can see the procedure for invoking Ganapathi in fire in the homam manual (see link below). At a minimum, say "atra aagachchha" (come here), "aavaahito bhava" (be invoked), "sthaapito bhava" (be established here). While saying it, mentally imagine that Ganapati is entering the fire and setting down there.

After saying the above, you can just make offerings with a swaahaa.

At the end, imagine that Ganapati is leaving the fire, while saying "yathaa sthaanam pratishthaapayaami".

The manual has everything in more detail.

Rituals are largely a mental game. The stronger you can mentally imagine and believe that there is a god there receiving your services and offerings, the better your ritual is. Increase the strength of belief.

Or It is OK if I give 12 Ahutis first with the Mantras only and I will speak -Idam Maha Ganpataye,Idam Na Mama - only once at the last after 12th Ahuti is completed?Dr.Ashwin Rawal--- On Tue, 6/1/09, m540i98 <m540i98 > wrote:
