Krsnah`s other name is Govinda, which means, the Protector of cows. It was King Indra who gave Krsnah this name after Krsnah lifted up Govardhana hill, to protect Vrndavan from the incessant deluge of rain King Indra unleashed. Krsnah is described as Govinda(cowherd boy) who plays the flute. My question is this: Why is Govinda who is Krsnah Himself described as the Primeval Lord?

Is Primeval Lord the same as the First Progenitor?

I guess so.. What's your point?

Why is Krsnah not addressed as the Primeval Lord instead of Govinda? Although we all know that Krsnah and Govinda are One.

So what name came first Krsnah or Govinda if Govinda is described to be the precursor ( primeval) of everything?

Govinda, the Primeval Lord is Visnu, Narayana with four arms...

BG(Before Govardhana hill was lifted up), God`s name was Krsnah. AG(After Govardhana hill was lifted up) God`s name became Govinda, the Primeval Lord. When Govinda wants to create, He becomes the four-armed Visnu-Narayana. But when He wants to play the cowherd boy playing the flute in the Vrndavan forest to attract His girlfriends, the gopis, He becomes the two-armed Govinda. If God wants to act as a Ksatriya He`s Krsnah in His Vasudeva form. Even Krsnah is attracted to His form as Govinda. The same attraction He has for Radha. This is the reason why Govinda is described as the Primeval Lord.

Hare Krsna !!

If King Indra addressed Lord krsna after lifting Govardhana as Govind, in that case what would you say on the first verse of Brahma Samhita from Chapter 5 -

ishvarah paramah krishnah

sac-cid-ananda-vigrahaha

anadir adir govindaha

Krishna, Who is known as Govinda, is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He has an eternal blissful spiritual body. He is the Origin of all. He has no other origin and He is the Prime Cause of all causes.

In above quest (Why is Govinda who is Krsnah Himself described as the Primeval Lord?). I would like to share a statement from His Divie Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Srila Prabhupada, which is as follow :

"Krishna's childhood pastimes in Goloka, His expansions as Vasudeva and Sankarshana in the spiritual planets, the functions of Vishnu-Purusa incarnations, the uncommon appearances as Matsya (Fish) or Kurma (Tortoise), incarnations at different ages, the incarnations in the different modes like Lord Siva ad Brahma, the empowered incarnations like King Prthu and Vyasadeva, the Qualified Supersoul in the heart of all, the formless Brahman or effulgence are all His variegated pastimes. In comparison of the Supreme Lord's infinite pastimes, manifesting as above, the most superior is His conjugal loving mellows with the cowherd damsels of Vraja. The form of Krishna is very human-like. He is young in complexion and dresses like a cowherd boy. He, with flute in His hand, is expert in song and gait The forms of His in His different pastimes in the material world is not mortal, neither is it limited or divided in anyway, nor can it be covered by material nature in the slightest. The Deities in the mode of Absolute Goodness (paravyoma) does not have any control over this incredible internal potency of His (yogamaya), which is under the sole jurisdiction of the Supreme Lord alone. The Lord has appeared from His spiritual abode with His extraordinary form worshipped by His devotees, also demonstrating at the same time the amazing power of His Yoga-maya potency. Lord Krishna is the original Supreme Lord, He enacts His most nectarine pastimes as the Supreme Absolute Truth. All expansions emanate from Him. He is the final repose and controller of all beings. He presents Himself as a young cowherd boy and the son of Nanda Maharaja, King of Vraja. He is eternally performing blissful pastimes in Vrndavana, which is non-different from the original Goloka.”
