knowing the purpose of those Lord's appearance

SB 1.1.12 - All blessings upon you, O Suta Gosvami. You know for what purpose the Personality of Godhead appeared in the womb of Devaki as the son of Vasudeva.

 

The Personality of Godhead does not come to the material world seeking to gain something from this place. He has a particular purpose in mind.

 

Same when He sends His empowered representatives to perform a particular

task like the Shaktyavesa avatars Prithu, Buddha and Christ. They come with a particular purpose, a certain assignment given to them by Krsna.

 

And these purposes can externally appear to be very different as the examples above show. For instance externally Lord Buddha should be seen as an enemie due to his teaching voidism yet because we hear from those that know the purpose of His appearance and mission we learn to appreciate Him as an empowered incarnation of Krsna and on that basis offer all rspects while not taking his teachings.

 

Suta Gosvami was one that the sages had confidence in as a knower of the internally side of Krsna's mission therefore they wanted to hear from him.
