yes the gonads continue producing gametes in both tubal ligation and

vasectomy but at a reduced rate, as evidenced by the lower fertility

levels seen in reversals; and with regard to the elimination of these

products it is impossible for the ovum or the sperm to be shed in the

same manner as prior to the procedure, as in "nocturnal emission" or

through the cervix, otherwise the procedure would have been a

failure; rather, the gametes are broken down locally and reabsorbed

I suspect what happens sometimes (with women anyway) is that when they are

sterilized the blood flow to the tubes or ovaries gets compromised and that

could account for a lot of the symptoms and the perception that the ovaries

don't work. When I got my tubal, I immediately started having bad hot

flashes and night sweats and some of the other sequelae that have been

described.
