JYOTISH SOFTWARE for Mac needed/suggestions?

Dear Members,

 

Some of you have given me suggestions for free jyotish software but it seems

that the software is not compatible with my MAC which uses OS X operating system.

Does anyone have any suggestions for MAC compatible good (free) jyotish programs

for a beginner? Nothing too complicated , please. I just use computers for email and don't

know how to add too many features. This will be my first time with Jyotish software,

Until now, I have just been reading your posts and a few books--chatting with friends--

now I feel ready to begin my study.

There appears to be a free program for Mac at

http://www.astrolog.org/astrolog.htm how ever I think it has option for

sidereal zodiac and vedic style charts. Please download it and find out

if it works. Another one is at http://sourceforge.net/projects/maitreya/

Dear Bhaskar,

Everyone has suggested this from Narasimha Rao's website.

I wish they had a program for our Macs because we have 3 computers in the house and all

are MAC!!!

I think someone told me to just buy for 200 American dollars, or so, some

Parashara's Light software --I believe they said it was MAC compatible.

Thank you for your honest feelings towards MAC computers. It is looking like

no practicing Jyotishi thinks one should use them!

Pranaam,

 

Although it is not a free program Goravani Jyotish v2.5 is Mac compatible, I

have done charts with it, as well as Narasimha Rao's program Jagannatha Hora

Lite, Parashara's Light 6.1, and Maitreya's Dream and have found no

discrepancies in the calculations. As far as I know it is the only Mac

compatible program out there.

the shop pC way burkirt raod T nagar Chennai Tamilnadu 600 017.

 

it is very useful and good the cheapest works normal windows compatible CD with basic features just satisfies the basic requirements for a horoscope for the given date time and placve of birth

There is a program called Virtual PC. This enables installing and running of

Windows software on a Mac. Read it over here

http://www.apple.com/macosx/applications/virtualpc/

 

Check if they have a trial software with which you can check. Check the

trial software by installing Jhora on your Mac. If it works, you wouldn't

have to worry about either Mac or Windows while using the software.
