Dear Narasimha,

As per Varahamihira, Sarpa Yoga (one of the dala yogas) is

defined without taking into account Rahu or Ketu. However, I

notice that JHora takes Rahu and Ketu into account while

highlighting this yoga in a chart. Can you please give the

reasoning behind that?

My curiosity comes from the fact that my father, my brother and

my brother-in-law all have Sarpa Yoga as per JHora definition.

All of them had their share of difficulties in their life more

than rest of us in the family. And, in all three cases if you

ignore Rahu and Ketu, there is no Sarpa Yoga.

Please clarify.

Regards,

Krishna

Dear Seetharama,

Sarpa Yoga -Dal yoga does fall in the category of Nabhas yoga. The purpose of Nabhas yoga is different. In these yogas, Rahu/Ketu are not considered as these yogas indicate the over-all signification of nativity. You may read my article on Nabhas yogas which was presented in Puri conference and published in Jyotish Digest.

JHora -SARPA YOGA has its own BAD EFFECTS , but it is not Dal-yoga.
