Mahatma Gandhi once referred to Ram and Krishna as "Himsaks", meaning violent people. While I know of innumerable wars fought by Ram and Krishna where they killed countless people, is it true that they were himsaks?

What kind of idiot are you?

And what kind of fool was Gandhi, if he really did say it?

Rama and Krishna were warriors. They didn't seek to perpetuate violence, they lived by their dharma, because they were born warriors. They weren't himsaks. If they were himsaks, then that is accusing God of being "himsak". Not to mention that's just taking the principle of ahimsa too far. One can be a warrior without being violent. Violence isn't the product of simple act of war, it is the result of brutally inflicting pain without consideration of the other person and without consideration of the situation involved.

A man who goes out of his way to inflict harm is violent. One who kills for pleasure is violent. Rama and Krishna never killed for pleasure, they killed because the situation called for them to resolve the conflict in this manner.

By reading Scriptures?

If you're lucky, yes. If you're not, then obviously you cannot. One has to be on the same wavelength as the book that he is reading to truly grasp it. Since God is infinite, one would have to be on infinite wavelength to truly attain God through reading scriptures.

Words cannot express the true conception of God, only a partial conception, so scriptures are inherently limited in helping one attain God-realization. They can be the guide, but they cannot serve as the guru.

The thing with Gandhi was that he should have been addressed as "Duratma Gandhi" instead of Mahatma Gandhi.

However, the last word he uttered before dying was "Ram".

Just goes to show you how fortunate even idiots are if they get to take birth in Bharata varsha.

Boy, you're not really practicing ahimsa, are you?:smash:

All this is by way of justification. Bottom line, they killed whatever the motive. Jesus Christ and Mahatma Gandhi asked people to forgive those who harmed them, whereas some people rationalize killing in multiple ways.;) What a world we live in!

maybe so, but Christians have started all kinds of wars in their history! and almost all of them eat meat! so they do not know the first thing about ahimsa.

God-conscious people do not kill animals for food or start UNjust wars.
