Do any scriptures mention about the age for japa mala?

kids can start japa around their 6 year, they should not be forced to chant 16 rounds of course, but a set of 2 or more rounds is enough to start, they will chant more in time with the purification.

Why not below 6 years age if they can? Do any sciptures mention about it?
