Selfish?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

I had stated in the past that I am diagnosed Paranoid Schizophrenic. The mental health facility considers me a recovered Schizo. But that sounds better than it really is.. All it means is I can handle my Schizo experiences better than I could in the past. So.. I still hear voices, feel things that arent there, and see things on occasion. I am still currently on medication as well.

My aim is (as is for most Schizos) is to get rid of the hallucinations and delusions that plagues me.

I titled this post "Selfish?" because I have been keeping a record and have devised a system so far that is pretty much universal in the sense that any Schizophrenic belonging to any creed or religion or belief would find it in themselves to practice what I present to them. I recieved an eMail from a reputable source that suggested I do the "Narayana Kavacha Shield" practice. I want to practice it to see if it works but I feel that it would be selfish of me because if it were to work it would only benefit those of a Hindu nature and not outside of this following. I believe if I am to do a practice to heal myself it must be able to heal others as well.. I know that no Schizophrenic Christian will even consider doing the Narayana Kavacha Shield.

So.. what shoudl I do?

Christianize it, maybe for others? See if that works still? After all, there are people out there who change Yoga to fit their belief systems, so why not do a similar thing?

Also, just curious, but do you believe that what you see and hear are real? And if not, why not? What makes schizophrenics different from psychics, clairvoyants, etc? Besides the possible onslaught of visions and auditory experiences? Maybe these are a result of a messed up kundalini awakening? Have you considered this?

Do I believe if they are real? Well.. lets see if I can explain this correctly. Being a Schizophrenic I deal with experiences that to others may seem paranormal. I see all of my Schizo experiences as illusion.. but yet a possibility that it is authentic. "Illusion first.. ask questions later" How do I know the difference? Experience for one.. How many times can a particular voice lie to me untill I get the picture that its full of decete? If I have an experience that I may suspect to be authentic I clear it with 3 people.. If they all agree that it is authentic then I treat it as such. But always see it as illusion first.. If it cant be observed or proven as truth within the context of which it presented itself how can it be real?

An example is how I became a Hindu.. I had a very powerful vision of Krishna which cause me to convert from Buddhism. I didnt accept the vision was authentic untill I told my experience to several ISCKON members.

When I explained what happened they confirmed its autheticity for me..

One of the things with this disease as well as you need to learn to trust when people tell you and not let your mind wander and come up with its own ideas and reasons of why something happens.

Dear Tirisilex,

During my early twenties I was diagnosed with this term schizophrenia. Twelve years have passed now and fortunately I am well and comfortable in myself. The process of wholeness and healing has not been an easy journey, but I am grateful as my psychic collapse was the beginning of my spiritual journey.

The classic treatment of just pyschotropic drugs was given me, and over the last years I used this medicine wisely. But I still consider that pyschiatric drugs are more like a "complimentary" assistance for healing to take place. I have met many people over the years who disregard modern medicine, but I am not one of them. But the main healing I have discovered is in Vedic philosophy, in particular the Bhagavad Gita, Mantra Meditation, and the healthy living choices as a devotee. I would encourage you to enter your spiritual journey and practices, deeply, patiently, and sincerely. And follow the 4 regs closely, especially no intoxicants (marijuana etc).

There is some interesting terminologies used by a couple of Psychiatrists by the name of Grof & Grof. They coined the terms 'Spiritual Emergence' and 'Spiritual Emergence Crisis'. They are not mainstream psychiatrists. But personally I found their views enlightening, and helpful in my own journey of recovery and spiritual wholeness.

Unfortunately I am unable to post Url's a a guest. So if you do a website search on Grof & Grof , and spiritual emergence crisis, you may find some beneficial reading. If it is not for you, or is disturbing in any way, please set aside this information.

Wishing you full wellness, my dear friend.

Trisilex,

Yes, some Schizophrenic, as well as overall psychotic episodes, can be contact with the ghost world. Tho hard enough contacting and dealing with people in this world ha, dont need extra distractions. So IMHO, if it can be healed, heal it.

I have an egroup which contains documents and links on alternative healing for both Bipolar and Schizophrenia. They have medical back up too. It works if you do.

You know, even if those voices are lying to you, or malicious, that doesn't necessarily mean it's illusory. It could be the product of a messed-up kundalini (supposedly people who have messed up kundalini end up having psychotic breakdowns or "episodes" and such). You may be open to evil spirits or something. Even if you don't recall it ever being aroused, that kundalini may have been with you at birth, possibly a product of bad karma or something.

I don't mean to say that you should pay attention to those voices, or to treat them as real, but I have a hard time believing they are "illusory". That is, if there is such a state where you can hear voices from entities of other realms, then I just find it hard to believe that just because some voices lie or are full of malice, they are not real.

In any case, I'm curious as to what your vision of Krsna was like. Would you mind sharing, as I am genuinely interested?

You mentioned Bad Kundalini flow or something and the possibility of "entities" bothering me.. Do you have any suggestions on how I could remedy my situation?

I have experienced what you are talking about but I was diagnosed as bipolar instead of schizophrenic. Even felt and saw the presence of strange dark living entities attacking my consciousness. Was a terrible experience. The only thing that really seems to remedy it for me is realizing that we are not these physical bodies and that if you call on God these entities really have no power. I have been on every anti-depressent and anti-psychotic medication known to humans and they did absolutely nothing for me except for one of them made my muscles spasm and I couldn't control my muscles. It even made it worse for me that most doctors and specialists don't realize that there is a spiritual world so it makes you feel isolated and lonely when people are only searching for a drug to cure you instead of trying to get to the root cause of all suffering.

Well, traditionally, one would seek out a guru who can control the amount of shakti within a person. How much to give, how much to hold back, etc. Unfortunately, I don't know of any person who can do that for you, as there are few genuine people doing this.

Doing yoga under the guidance of a guru might straighten your problem out as well.

I think you might want to read Kundalini: The Evolutionary Energy by Gopi Krishna, it goes into detail about his experiences with the arousal of kundalini and how he had to cope for a long time with the torment of the energy going in the wrong paths. There are also kundalini support sites online you might want to check on.

Of course, you should also keep thinking of Krishna and do whatever is working for you at the same time. I hope everything works out for you. I read your experience re: Krishna by the way, and wow, I think that is truly phenomenal. I find it inspiring for my own spiritual quest as well, so thanks a lot for sharing it.

By the way, Trisilex, I was wondering if you knew who Krishna was before you ever saw him in your vision?

Yes I knew who he was.. I was looking in to Hinduism even while I was a Buddhist. My thought was.. The Buddha learned in the beginning from Vedic Believing people so I thought about starting where he started.. So I looked a bit into Hinduism.. He learned under Brahmans I believe and then got the realization for a new system favorable to his search.

Did he look like any of the pictures you've seen of him?

Did he say his name was Krishna?

Or did you just know?

He looked like Krishna in teenage form. Just like the ones Ive seen in pictures. He told me he was the being who asked me the question from way back in my childhood. I had wondered for a long time who it was that presented me with this "trial" within my life. Jehovah had had his chance to claim.. Allah had his chance.. The Buddha even.. No.. it was none of them.. Krishna was the one who revealed himself to me.. noone else..
