Dear Indologists,

 

Could you recommend a paper or a book

where  meanings of term "buddhi" in various

phylosophical doctrines is surveyed?

buddhi (also buddhimaani) == intelligence, common-sense, wisdom, erudition,

articulation, survival skills, that sort of thing.

Thanks for the recommendations. Is it not fair to say that my last post was

an reasonably accurate summary of the various interpretations of the word

"buddhi"? If my memory serves me correctly, in the mahabharata, the word is

frequently mentioned in praise/criticism of Yudhishthira in most of the

above contexts , both positive and negative, the negative case (cunning)

being during the "Ashwaththamaa hatah (*cough* itigaja *cough) " business.
