An answer about that verse from Rupa Gosvami to Sanantan Gosvami

One of my saktis has uncovered the meaning of the verse which was ques-

tioned by Dadhibhaksa das.

Here is the meaning:

"Srila Rupa Gosvami's message to Srila Sanatana Gosvami contains two

statements of very similar nature, one instruction in the imperative case

and one hint which indicates that it is a coded message.

The two statements are, "Where has the Mathura Puri of Yadupati gone? Where

has the northern Kosala of Raghupati gone?" These two statements are very

unusual and therefore they immediately attract the attention of a reader.

One would normally not ask, "Where has this city gone?" Especially if that

city is actually still present. One can thus understand that the subject

and the object of the questions have been reversed. We would ask, "Where

has Yadupati gone?" Rupa and Sanatana Gosvami were always meditating on

Lord Caitanya. They knew that He was directly Yadupati, Lord Krsna. So this

verse indicates that mathura is the city of Yadupati.

The instruction in the imperative case is, "Thus knowing, make your mind

steady (calm down! everything is fine!)." And the hint, which gives the key

to the proper understanding is, "The meaning of this verse can be

ascertained by considering that this universe is not eternal."

In other words, "If you want to catch Yadupati, Lord Caitanya, then better

act quickly as long as He is still in Mathura!" The hint that nothing is

eternal really puts a sense of urgency into the message and it helps

understanding it. Mathura is certainly still here but it would make sense

to call it the Mathura of Yadupati only if He is actually there in the

city. Of course, Lord Caitanya and Mathura are both eternal, but on the

material plane the Lord would only be there for a short while."
