Guest guest
Namaste to all, There are atleast two expanded versions of the Tryambakam mantra (that I know of). Both of them are to be found in the Rudrashtadhyayi and in its parent Veda - the Shukla/Krishna Yajur Veda. Both of them are very similar with the exception of one or two syllables. Version 1: Tryambakam yajamahe sugandhim pushti vardhanam Urvarukamiva Bandhanaan Mrtyor mukshiya maamrtat Version 2: Tryambakam yajamahe sugandhim pativedanam Urvarukamiva Bandhanaan adito mukshiya maamutah "Om Jum Sah" is the Mahamrityunjaya beeja mantra . As Suryaji has posted , it can be used as part of the lom vilom samput in chanting the tryambakam mantra. Lom vilom means "forwards and backwards" Jai Shiva Nanda , "Mahamuni Das" <mahamuni> wrote: > > Om Jum Sah Om Bhur Bhuvah Svah > Tryambakam yajamahe sugandhim pushti vardhanam > Urvarukamiva Bandhanaan Mrtyor mukshiya maamrtat > Svah Bhuvah Bhur Om Sah Jum Om > > - > surinder vaid > > Thursday, May 18, 2006 7:47 AM > RE: Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra > > > om namaha shivaye. Guest guest
SURYAKSHETRA 118 WHAT THIS LITTLE MAN SPEAKS………………………… ANDAME AANANDAM….looks like a strange subject? Let us see what this is. ANDAME – Andam in other words is nothing but “beauty” and Aanandam is nothing but extreme happiness – an uppermost case of happiness. Well how both of them are related? We may feel for some time, it is like a mind-body theory, when the beauty is referred to physical form and Aanandam is referred to the mental state. I may have to defer with some of you if you equate Andam – beauty to a simple physical form. Andam is a kind of presentation. It is not a mere physical form in the shape of a round shaped face, glittering eyes, smooth skin and handsome personality etc. I am referring to Andam – beauty in its real form, and I have nothing to do with the physical features of any one, me and my friends surely believe that the physical features are never last longing. The way in which we present our speech; the way in which we like to hear; the way in which we behave; the way in which we write; the way in which we present our ideas; the way in which we sing………..so many areas speak of BEAUTY. The beauty is thus, becomes a path of a state of bliss or extreme state of happiness. By this time some of my friends might have correlated the subject to BEHAVIOUR SCIENCES. I am speaking a little ABOVE that. In Behavior Science, we learn to behave in a “I AM OK -YOU ARE OK” situation and then again it is momentary. There are only four and only four situations in which we live in while interacting with the members of the society, as per the said sciences. I AM OK- YOU ARE OK; I AM OK -YOU ARE NOT OK; I AM NOT OK- YOU ARE OK; AND I AM NOT OK - YOU ARE NOT OK. There is no fifth one. But the BEAUTY I am referring is quite unique which leads to a state of bliss and that is the stage where we will really enjoy ourselves beyond any explanation. It is something like a mind-body relation and still deep in it. Andam – beauty is also related to the CULTURE which we develop. There are two aspects in any life one is Growth and the other is Development. Any one can Grow and perish since it is a natural course of action. But development is related to our INTENTIONAL adoption to the refinement; the culture and apart from all, it is a Choice one. Thus Andam – the beauty is how we DEVELOP ourselves to involve ourselves irrespective of physical features and Aanandam is thus born out of it. It is surely not so easy to achieve, but then, NOTHING REMAINS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ANY ONE TO ACHIEVE BY PERFECTION AND INVOLVEMENT. Let us try to remain BEAUTIFUL both in physic and in our mental state; and thus lead ourselves to a perfect state of AANANDAM – BLISS what ever degree of hurdles/challenges we may face in life. And let us also teach our next generation all this so that they REMAIN BEAUTIFUL IN THEIR LIFE STYLE. More in next…..I shall be back again soon………………………… Adhyatmitka Ratna, Sri Yaaga Vidya Praveena, Vedanta Visarada Dr P V Sesha Sai Aswamedhayaaji (Former Chief Officer – Syndicate Bank) www.ashwamedhayaagam.org E Mails: shodasisai (AT) hotmail (DOT) com, shodasisai , shodasisai (AT) rediffmail (DOT) com Camp: Los Angeles, California, USA Phone 310 293 9066 Nanda <chandimaakijai > wrote: Namaste to all, There are atleast two expanded versions of the Tryambakam mantra (that I know of).
