Ayyappa Swami is thought to be the incarnation of God Sastha (Hari-

Hara Sutha). There is a famous temple in Sabarimala of south india.

The story of God known with different names such as Sastha/Darma

sastha/HariHara sutha etc and that of Ayyappa is often difficult to

distinguish. The history of Ayyappa is mystified. And it becomes very

difficult to distinguish History and Puranic stories.

The horoscope of ayyappa is described in some old texts. As per

those poems, the Asc is Ta, Sa in 3rd, Mo and ke in 4th, Ma in 7th,

Su and Me in 9th, Ra in 10th, Ju and Ve in 11th. The day of birth is

saterday, thidhi is Panchami, Star is Uthara Phalguni. The story of

Ayyappa is strongly related to the Panthala Dynasty of Kerala.

Considering the history of this dynasty, which starts in 9th century

AD, I tried to locate this planatary position using JHora software.

I found that there is only one date, that agrees to this description

at least to a certain extent.

The date is 1299 Jan 28, Noon 1.00 pm. To be in tune with the above

description, as far as possible, I had used the Raman Ayanamsa.
