Guest guest
Hi, I read in a book on sadhus about yogis who will hold the same posture for 12 years. When does the 12 year cycle begin? Does the 12-year cycle relate directly to the 12 houses or signs? mike
Guest guest
not sure how they would retain a posture for that period unless they were in deepest meditation...even then at some point they have to eat either from the sun or from prana or from normal foods.. interesting stuff tho michael grogan <tropical (AT) rawfoods (DOT) com> wrote: Hi,I read in a book on sadhus about yogis who will hold the same posture for 12 years. Guest guest
|| Om Gurave Namah || Dear Mike, In the beginning parts of their tapasya they get up for their daily bodiy activities and then resume their meditation. The meditation becomes longer as they progress. They eat (or sleep) lesser and lesser like once a day etc as time progresses. Some times the wife, Like during the Shukracharya's tapasya, helps them in daily activities like getting food etc. You can read in many Puranas as to how they first live on fruits, then roots, leaves(lesser time to search) etc consequently reducing their time in other daily activities. Guest guest
Dear Sanjay, Thanks. I want to know what the 12 year cycle is about, and if it relates to the 12 signs? does it have anything to do with the orbit of Jupiter? Is there a 12-year cycle in vedic astrology? mike vedic astrology, "sanjayprabhakaran" <sanjaychettiar@g...> wrote: > || Om Gurave Namah || > Dear Mike, > In the beginning parts of their tapasya they get up for their daily > bodiy activities and then resume their meditation. Guest guest
|| Om Gurave Namah || Dear Mike, I just wanted share one more point which a was told to me by a person from Ramakrishna Mutt, He is a regular saadhaka. In Kali Yuga you dont need to spend like 12 years in Tapasya. A fraction of the specified period can also give results. I am not sure of the exact proportion you can reduce. I would atleast think about one forth(proporional to yuga duration) or maybe one tenth. In Kali yuga resistance is higher and hence your efforts will bear more results(speed). It's like swimming in Fresh water vs. Salty water. You dont need to put much effort to swim in say, Dead sea.
