Guest guest
Namaste friends, Can someone familiar with the timeline of the democratic presidential primaries of USA tell me one thing? Is Feb 11 too late for a turn-around in the fortunes of the candidates? Frontrunner John Kerry is running a great annual TA dasa, which will end on Feb 13. Then a not-so-great dasa will start. In comparison, Howard Dean started a not-so-good dasa on Jan 16 and it will end on Feb 11. Then a great dasa will start. I know Howard Dean is not doing well right now, but I think his campaign may pick up steam after Feb 10. Before I make a public prediction, I want to be sure that it is possible for the primaries to drag on until then. Is that possible or is the issue expected to be settled before Feb 11? Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the political process and could not find the info anywhere. All the prominent news sites cover ony upto only Feb 3 primaries! Please reply to pvr or to the list. Thank you for your help! May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha
Guest guest
Dear Narasimha, The primaries are just the begining. The idea is to eliminate and narrow down the list to probably two good candidates. Last time, we had Al Gore and Bill Bradley and debates continued for several months after the primary. The democrats then settled for Gore. Likewise, this time around it appears as though Kerry is a front-runner and Howard Dean could be a likely challenger.Guys like Lieberman get dropped out. In the Iowa caucus, Gephardt decided to bow out. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi, Narasimha, I don't believe February 11 is too late at all - nor have I totally given up on Dean (sans astrological angles; to me the guy just has more "juice," more _rasa_ than any of the other Democrats). Below please find pasted a list of primary dates. Although the New Hampshire primary is notoriously relevant as a litmus test given the number of independent voters in that state, the fight ain't over. (The source of the dates is <http://www.vote- smart.org/election_president_state_primary_dates.php>. All my best - I shall look forward to following what you determine.
