Guest guest
Dear Raphael, I've explored that myself- whether Ju is considered malefic or benefic, depends on approach. One which goes by MT /common/ only, considers Ju malefic. Integritive approach represented mostly on this List, considers Ju benefic for Cancer Lagna, based on streght of 9th House, being comparatively much stronger than sexth. However, it's been recogniozed here that Jupiter ca sometimes behave as a 'malefic' and negativelly affect 6ThH related issues. My own experience, as a Cancer Lagna, led me to conclussion that Ju is /mostly/ benefic, with 6th House potential. It is usually quite powerful in protecting it's significance, but may adversly affect health, most important 6th issue. However, my impression is that in the later case, Ju serves as an Amplifier, if other bad guys effects coincide in transit, with that of Ju- then health problems can result /first house/. But it seems to me that even in that case /first H/ Ju just fails to protect health, due to it's 6thH potential, from malefics. For Mars and it's 'shared' position, there is no doubt, it's malefic. I guess you mixed 'planet in own house' with 'beneficience'- which is not the same- Seventh H and it's Lord, in example you've given, is Maraka, and further confirm malefic status. So, it's MALEFIC. Guest guest
Dear Anna, Thank you for your thoughts on the matter. It seems logical to follow the integrative approach based on relative strenghts of the houses involved ! In the other example related to Mars I was of the opinion that 7th being a Kendra from asc. (Taurus) would @least give Mars some beneficience compared to his ownership of MT Aries which is the 12th house for the same lagna ! Your thoughts on health have raised another doubt, while the general trend is to look into 6th house for ill-health, there are other houses, such as 4th house (heart), 2nd house (eyes) which are pointed out in classics. So generally speaking 6th house alone or its associations may not be able to give a clear picture about one's health ! How if 6th is not afflicted @ all, but one of these above mentioned houses are afflicted ? Then the person does suffer ill-health right ? Guest guest
Dear Raphael, Sorry, seems I wasn't clear enough- I was talking of Ju transit L. and 1st House, where Ju is exalted, for Cn Lagna- it can manifest /naturally?/ its sixth H. potential- i.e health problems. We cannot predict health issues based on 6th only, and certainly not based on it's Lord. You are right. Besides, sixth house is also upachaya /as well as dusthana/ and even when it indicates health problems their nature is not permanent /as in eight/ and improve with time. Sixth H has more meaning, and it contributes to growth of Lagna- however, houses whose Lord is in 6th H. suffer Again it may well be that Ju over lagna tr. when coincides with other bad transits, doesn't give protection to Lagna? In any event do not expect spectacularly good time when Ju tr. L. /gain weight, yes. I hope I've been clear now. I understand the reason why you like 'eclectic' approach, for that reason I am here too. I am using this oportunity to add one more Q- I have noticed that Cn Lagna with Jupiter in 1st, for some reasons doesn't work as one would expect from exalted planet, and is much more favourable if placed in other houses. /generation 54, 55, with Cn Lagna for ex./ Weight problems- obesity, laziness and other /bad/ kapha manifestations are more likely from there /and good ones, too, I guess?/. Whether that makes life of natives 'easier' is questionable, and the ambition, drive of Ju in Sag, for ex, is not there. Ju in Pi, in 9th brings also that contemplative 'kapha' element, and is certainly good for spiritual things- but I ussually say, Ju is in pajama there, and for mundane benefits, Ju in Sag /in the office/ seems to be better. Ju in Cn is still an enigma to me, not only because it's 8th from its MT, but also because it's exalted there. Guest guest
Dear Anna, Thank you, am receiving you now loud & clear :-) ! Interesting what you have quoted about Jup in cancer, for cancer lagna people. I too have seen/studied one such horoscope. What I have observed about this person, I will present below, please do let me know what your observations have been ! The person I observed had a over-whelming need to stand & live by the ideals of the world rather than ones own ideals. Constantly worried about what other ppl might think/say. Though some of this might have been due to the fact that Moon lagna lord, is in 12th to the lagna, Jupiter I think also might have a strong role to play in this thought process (being the 9th lord ?), social stigma.....etc ? Would be interesting to get more thoughts on this lagna !
