Guest guest
Dear Respected members In the latest Astrological magazine it is mentioned that conjunction of mercury and sun in a sign is common and is called nipuna yoga. For Budh Aditya yoga - mercury and sun should be within 1 degree. what is the specality for mercury, by being combust? generally it is stated that combust planets loses there strength.but here non combust mercury is ordinary nipuna and combust mercury is budh-aditya! what is sun doing to mercury here? can we say the more mercury is away from sun the strength of budh- aditya yoga decreases? Guest guest
Dear Sarajit ji I beleive this harm is applicable for the signs you had mentioned (when combustion happens in them). But the basic doubt which is still left is - how is the excitation of intelligence happening due to combustion. Why is sun unable to shadow mercury.I have read from archives that the degree of planets also matters(whether sun is ahead or behind other planets). This article says mere conjunction is common and is called nipuna while for real budh -aditya close combustion(within 1 deg) is nedded. how? Guest guest
I have never heard of a Budhaditya Yoga being within one degree. I heard that it needed, for true brilliance of mind, to be in the lagna or in the seventh aspecting lagna, or in the 5th Bhava of intelligence or 11th Bhava aspecting the 5th. Also both Grahas need to have some form of strength for really big results. I have heard of a Yoga called a Cazimi Yoga. It is where a Graha, any Graha, within one degree of the Sun AND strong yields brilliance in that field of endeavor as indicated by the Graha and Bhavas owned per said chart. An Example is Joseph Campbell, the Great teacher and teller of all the world's ancient myths. He has Jupiter within one degree of the sun in Pisces, in the 7th Bhava. Possibly Mercury doesn't get 'as hurt' by the sun because it is always so near to the sun and is almost 'Surya's Chariot' of communication if you will. Just a thought. Guest guest
MErcury very seldom gets beyond the sun by more than one rashi at a time. It is so often with the Sun that this yoga would occur in a very high percentage of charts. But yet our world is not full of that many 'brilliant' people on the whole. Thus I believe we practically need to apply other criteria to this Yoga in order to see the true 'highs' that it can produce. See my other email for more ideas... Guest guest
Dear KPK, When we talk about distance between planets it means when they are in the same Rasi.Remember Arsha method counts aspects from Sign to sign and so does it consider associations. The degrees given are minimum, below which the respective yogas do not arise. In your horoscope, though Mercury appears to be weak being in enemy house and also devoid of strength in Navamsa, it is considered strong as Lagnesh and Lagna are considered to be with strength when Lagnesh is placed in Upachaya , which it is.Budhaaditya yoga however is not present. Hope this helps, Chandrashekhar. kpkanitkar [kpkanitkar ]Sent: Monday, September 22, 2003 1:21 AMvedic astrologySubject: [vedic astrology] Re: Budh Aditya and Nipuna Yoga - Astrological MagHello Respected ChandraShekhar JiWhat if distance between Sun and Mercury is more than 12 degrees but also they occupy different Rashi. Guest guest
Thank You very much for reply. yes I Remember , asscociaton of planets is considered from signs to sign So for Any conjuction , Planets have to be in same rashi. Otherwise even tehn when 2 planets are apart by 2 degrees but occupy different rashi its not called conjunction. Guest guest
|| Jaya Jagannath || Dear Pradeep, There are some confusion on the exact effect of Budhaditya in different charts and I am trying to find out more from the real life cases, I guess it would take some time and others experience shall always help. So far, I have heard so many people sharing so many experiences on the topic and they differ so much, I thought of finding out more myself...lol However, let me try the "Why" bit, In the natural zodiac, Mercury rules two of the upachayas the 3rd and the 6th and it shows how Mercury is involved in our growth in this world. Now Mercury rules what! We all know it rules our operational intelligence which we use for all our day to day activities in contrast of the intelligence of Jupiter which helps us between the right and wrong, the good and bad, true and false. Now Mercury being the karaka for operational intelligence and Sun being the giver of knowledge. You see Sun also governs the natural 5th house of the zodiac, the house which represents knowledge. This association of the Sun and Mercury give knowledge required to accomplish the activities in day to day life in best possible way. In short it makes the native very skillful and the native learns things very fast. Guest guest
Dear Sarajit jee Thanks for the reply. It is interesting to know about diffrent opinions. Regarding standard definitions we have to listen to learned members like chandrshekarji. Sanjayji and other Gurujis will be having real life experiences as well. I am having this in second house , and was thinking all these time if sun was a bit far ,i would also had some intelligence :-)(for me it is within 2 degrees, also forming dharma karmadhipati yoga ,first informed by Zoranji) But all of a sudden after seeing the article ,i was happy, but chandrasjhekarji made me realize again that the 'virtual' intelligence which i felt was only due to a printing error :-) as such is the case, may be your idea to do some research is worth. Guest guest
Dear Pradeepa, No doubt the authour Gayatri devi Vasudeva is a knowledgeable astrologer and tutoured by Dr. B.V.Raman himself. But it is possible that the degrees indicated could be printer's devil. If my memory serves me right, Dr. Raman himself has commented on the necesicity of more than 10 degrees distance between Mercury and Sun being necessary to give effect to Budhaaditya yoga. The details of different strengths of the Budhaaditya yoga are given in commentary of jataka Paarijaata , is what I remember. The reason of the combination giving intelligence is that Sun is Karaka for self and Mercury for intellect. Guest guest
Dear Sir, May I add?. Late .Dr.B.V.Raman in his book three hundred important combinations has said,(Ref:page no 54 1983, 9th edition.)"BUDHA-ADITYA-YOGA: Definition:-If Mercury combines with Sun the combination goes under the name of Budha-Aditya-yoga.Results:- Highly intelligent ,skillful in all works, good reputation, personal respect, and surrounded by all comforts and happiness.Remarks:-Generally any planet in association with the Sun becomes combust or astha and loses its power to do good.Perhaps Mercury is an exception .It should not be taken for granted that irrespective of the distance between the Sun and Mercury,Bedha-Aditya-Yoga would be present. On the contrary Mercury should not be within 10 degrees of the Sun to give rise to Budha-Aditya-Yoga.This combination is not of course rare."
