Guest guest
And if I can add one thing.... In Maharishi Parashar's Volume on Hora Jyotish... He says, and I'm paraphrasing, a little... "If we do Jyotish poorly, we will come back..." as the worst kind of toad! When i first read this, I thought, god, I'd better be very good! Also, this last year, Nature, Jyotish, herself... got a chance to teach us what a good Astrologer might be... Jupiter every 12 years passes through the Sign of Cancer where it's supposed to be exalted.... This i found interesting and puzzling at the same time... Because the Jupiter in Cancer energy is as guiding and wise loving, as the Mother! Which is the Sign of Cancer... So, we should resolve to care for our Jyotish students, see them as if they were our children, loving them and helping them like we would our own! Also, if we resolve like the Doctor's oath... not to do any harm! We will be okay! I think when I remember to be up-lifting and nourishing as well as technically correct .... I feel I'm doing Maharishi Parashar...justice.... There's also this final point... At some point I was doing research on the Sun, in Jyotish... and knowing some of it's significations... like the 'Self'...'I'...self-confidnece.. ego, etc.... I thought I wonder what the great sage, Maharishi might have to say about the Self-Sun... In his commentary on the great Vedic Epic, Bhagavad-Gita... actually there's a cool concordance that goes with it... I came across this passage: "Until a seeker of truth, gets tired of doing it, his own way.... knowledge never comes..." Wow, and I took that to also, mean...that until someone wills to look at particular things in their chart.... I should tread, lightly... So, I've learned to first ask: 'What do you want to know more about yourself?" And even then, I first cover all their Strengths... Because as it turns out... our Strengths are closer to our real Truth, anyway.... Because, as it turns out...we are Brahman... according to Ved... and when you realize that... that you art That! and everyone is That! then you can hardly do any harm... in fact, now someone has to drag it out of me... 'Well, this is great but how about my challenges? And then, I try and shine the light of Jyotish.. onto their areas ... which have gotten out of tune, with the Self! mmmmmmmm Jai Guru Mark Kincaid ---------- "Aum" <studd2hott > vedic astrology [vedic astrology] ETHICS OF A VEDIC ASTROLOGER Tue, Aug 19, 2003, 1:25 PM Dear Gurudeva Visti and respected Gurus and Shishyas, I have been reading a lot of adverse posts on the lists about "WHO IS THE BETTER ASTROLOGER ?" To me a good Vedic astrologer is one who apart from his knowledge of the subject is also very Spiritual. One quality of someone who is spiritual is "love for fellow humans and genuine humility in life." I have quoted earlier too, a line from my diksha gurudeva, Paramahansa Yogananda, "Humility is a virtue pleasing to God above all others" The very ego in a vedic astrologer will result in the fructification of bad karmic fruits directly proportional to the accuracy of predictions. It hurts me to see the "light of the vedas", JYOTISHA, being let down time and again by a few ignorant people. Even if someone is the best astrologer in the world, god will not give him the glory of salvation unless he learns to be humble and follow the yogic sutras of Patanjali. Besides, what respect will people have for someone who follows his ego more than the light of god. My humble advice, The knowledge of Jyotish is given by the divine mother to help people with this divine tool, not to criticise other people, God does not care if you are the best astrologer in the world, he will not give you salvation unless you loose your animosity and hatred for other human beings and the "killer" called "Ego" and you have LOVE in your heart above all other manifestations of the self. "The spiritual man conquers wrath by calmness, stops quarrels by keeping silence, dispels inharmony by being sweet of speech, and shames discourtesy by being thoughtful of others" Jai Gurudeva, Sunit Mehta Sponsor Terms of Service <> .
