Guest guest
Dear Learned Gauranga, Extremely wonderful explanation. I am quite sure many on this list would benefit from your reply. I really understood the lesson with the example of Lasagne, hope you are feeling better now ) I think it would be better if we take any chart of your wish, which is going through Sadesati as it would be more helpful in knwoing the extent of the problem firsthand. I have written to Rageshwari who I presume is going through Sadesati. If she is not, then anyone on this list can venture his chart out for discussion provided someone who has recently gone through sadesati and remembers the events/nature of suffering. I did try to call up a few friends who are going through sadesati but their TOB wasn't reliable. Warm regards, Sushmita. vedic astrology, Gauranga Das <gauranga@b...> wrote: > JAYA JAGANNATHA! > > Dear Sushmita, > > Namaste. > > > > > Sushmita: Which sign should we look at, the Moon sign ? or all the 3 > > signs. > > I guess all 3 signs should be checked, and thus you will get specific > tendencies during Saturn's transit in the 3 signs. Guest guest
Dear All, We have faced three Shani Dasa in one go wherein three members of our family were undergoing Shani dasa. Two still are. I have been through Shani dasa under the influence of Kala Sarpa Yoga as well. The horo details are as follows - dob - 23 april, 1938 time - 23:13 place - bhiwani, haryana Not everyone is fortunate enough to learn from the lessons of Shani. I can say that all those under the influence whether the individual or the family members should learn to be patient and accept the fate. There is no point fighting it. Worship Lord Hanuman for courage. Believe in yourself and God, and wait for tide to turn. If you have any queries, I shall be happy to answer them. vedic astrology, tvrao_agd <tvrao_agd@s...> wrote: > dear rangan, > > the place called shani shinganapur in ahmednagar district, maharashtra is > very famous. here there is no temple as such for the idol. the idol is > present as open to sky and only male persons are allowed near idol for > tailaabhishekam. this village has no doors and is very famous as there will > be no thefts though the houses have no doors. for privacy only cloth > curtains are used. this place is close to ahmednagar on > ahmednagar-aurangabad road. from aurangabad it is about 80 kms and from > ahmednagar it is 42 kms. > > t. v. rao > > - > "rkrangan" <rkrangan> > <vedic astrology> > Wednesday, April 09, 2003 8:52 PM > [vedic astrology] Re: Sadesati > > > > Om Gurave Namah > > Om Namo Narayanaya > > > > > > Dear Rao > > > > The occurence of Sade Sathi has nothing to do with any Maha dasa or > > any sub-dasas in operation. I am not computer savy so don't know how to upload files, maybe others in here can help if you wish. Just a suggestion here. Guest guest
Dear Fayyaz and Naresh, Thanks for posting your birth data, it's upto Learned Gauranga to take up your cases or a single case, ideally I would wish that everyone who is suffering or going to suffer from Sadesati, her/his case be discussed here so that everyone benefits. Fayyaz your email seems to have suggested that it is also in my hands which chart is to be discussed, well it is in Gauranga's hands since he is the one who is the master and not me ) Let's see if Gauranga has the time to discuss every case or maybe other Learned members can come forward and help us all. I had seen earlier posts of Ramapriya and she had suggested that it woiould be better if one attaches the JHD format for easy analysis by astrologers. I don't have JHL now, otherwise would have posted your charts. I would try and do it tommorow if time permits. Guest guest
Dear Sushmita, as you can see I am in Sadhe Sati and I can say that for now I don't feel any kind of serious suffering. There was some mental anguish when Saturn turned retrograde in October but it was over without any consequences. My opinion is that each Graha represents some kind of teacher with their special characteristics. Some of them are angry, some generous... The basic thing is if we learn lessons of the given Graha we don't have to suffer at all. Same for Saturn. I don't see why he should punish us so badly if we live in accordance with universal laws or even if we sincerely try to... As for remedial measures I respect remedies given in Vedas but I don't think that nowadays exists alternative for meditation. Meditation will surely release us from bondage of possessions and calm our mind. How can we experience sorrow and tensions than? Also it is more universal because westerners are not very eager to go to temples of many demigods with names they cannot pronounce. I don't think it is necessary. The state of mind is importan and not a place where we pray. I don't think there is a true need for all of us to think and behave in the same manner. There is a many roads to the same place and we should all choose one for ourselves... Best regards, Ognjen - sushmita34 vedic astrology Friday, April 11, 2003 9:05 AM [vedic astrology] re: Sadesati Dear Learned Gauranga,Extremely wonderful explanation. I am quite sure many on this list would benefit from your reply.I really understood the lesson with the example of Lasagne, hope you are feeling better now )I think it would be better if we take any chart of your wish, which is going through Sadesati as it would be more helpful in knwoing the extent of the problem firsthand. I have written to Rageshwari who I presume is going through Sadesati. If she is not, then anyone on this list can venture his chart out for discussion provided someone who has recently gone through sadesati and remembers the events/nature of suffering.I did try to call up a few friends who are going through sadesati but their TOB wasn't reliable.Warm regards,Sushmita.--- In vedic astrology, Gauranga Das <gauranga@b...> wrote:> JAYA JAGANNATHA!> > Dear Sushmita,> > Namaste.> > >> > Sushmita: Which sign should we look at, the Moon sign ? or all the 3> > signs.> > I guess all 3 signs should be checked, and thus you will get specific> tendencies during Saturn's transit in the 3 signs. Guest guest
Dear Mr.Rao and everyone, As you had mentioned about the temple of Shani, I just found some articles on it on the net. Couldn't attach it in word doc since in this format it is not available so just pasting it here without the author's permission. I am sure most of you all might know about this, but just posting it here just in case. I did find the article interesting. I presume, visting this temple is a part of the remedy for Sadesathi. Maybe in the next post after all this discussion is over I would like to ask PVR whether saturn really deserves such a bad name, hope he can throw some detailed esoteric meaning to it all. The Village of Saturn Saturns village Shinganapur Location In the state of Maharashtra, there is a famous pilgrimage known as Nasik, a little away from it is Ahmadnagar and near that is the famous Shirdi, associated with Shirdi Sai Baba whose miracles, recorded in six volumes with the addresses of devotees makes an incredible reading. The volumes have not been reprinted but may be available with some devotees. The incident One day the cowherds who had gone to graze their cattle to nearby forest saw a five feet nine inches tall image of Lord Shani entangled in bushes. In trying to extricate the idol, a stick got pierced into it and blood started oozing out. The scar can be seen even now. The frightened villagers ran away and told the village elders about it. One of the wise and spiritual persons of the village had a dream in which he was directed by the idol who revealed himself as Shani, to take him, install him and worship him properly. Installation The villagers offered prayers, took the idol and placed in an open ground where it has been standing for more than 150 years now. Worship: General There is not priest here. Anyone can worship. There is an ancient palanquin here where the padukas (footwear) of Shani Maharaj is placed. No woman is allowed to walk on the platform on which the idol of Shani is placed. (remember how Shani wanted to remain a celibate but had to bow down before the orders of his mother) Worship: Special Three types of people are said to visit this place for special prayers: Those who have Saturn in their lagna secondly, those who are passing through saadhe saati and finally anyone who has been told astrologically that Lord Shani has to be propiated to overcome the problems being faced by them. Discipline to be followed in worshipping Men who worship are to follow simple rules of a hundred percent purity. They must bathe, wear wet lion clothe and worship only then. Many Hindu women used to follow such a discipline about five and more decades ago very regularly in their homes. My father's mother who had come once to Lucknow to stay with us, did cooking for us all even in the cold winter of the north India (horribly cold for south Indians who do no experience anything other than a mild winter) in wet clothes, then offered it at the small temple in our house first. No one was allowed to enter the kitchen during the time this went on. If in the changed India of our times, any woman follows this practice would be dismissed as crankish. But even now, on special occasions when we have special poojas, women follow it strictly. For instance during my Ahmadabad posting (1970) when during the nine day Ramanavami festival, when I did, (as I had for ten years, every year) what is known as the navanha parayana of Ramayana, ladies in the neighbourhood cooked food in this fashion, observing all the purity everyday to prepare prasadam. Miracles associated with the village As I have said, I never visited this place because I heard about it long after I had been transferred out of western India where I had as many as four postings. I heard about this place from a person who was the collector of the district under which this village falls. A Collector is generally of the Indian Administrative Service to which recruitment is made on the basis of a stiff all-India competition. I have to give this background to tell you that when a man of this rank told me that in the village, Shinganapur, there never was a single case of theft, murder, cheating etc. The spiritual effect of all this was so pervading that in the surrounding villages also a very high standard of honesty is maintained. 1 My friend told me that people of Shinganapur had witnessed in these 150 years so many miracles of Lord Shani they were mortally frightened of committing any crime of taking to any vice. He was so impressed by all this because as the Collector of the district under which fell Shinganapur he never had to worry ever. This is a very significant fact because in the rich sugarcane belt of Maharashtra where Shinganapur falls, there are crimes committed in other places. 2 He told me that no one ever locked his house and everyone left jewellery and cash wherever he liked without any fear of it being stolen. 3 He also heard about the stories of miraculous punishments which he could not verify. 4 I heard similar stories from many Maharashtrians including some high ranking politicians who have assured me that all this was true. 5 The story often related about such miracle is one about some thieves who had gone to the village to commit theft in the house of a prosperous farmer. They stole a pair of bullocks and tried to run away in the darkness of the night. After spending many hours, ( in running away) they discovered as soon as the sun rose next morning that they were right inside the village! Lord Saturn did not allow them to flee but instead created an illusion of an escape while they were only circling and circling in the village. The occasion to write this is: in an English newspaper of 19 May, 1998 there is a story about Shinganapur by a woman journalist who wrote out her piece, without investigating which she could have done by meeting the district officials and the villagers to make it a real great piece of journalism. This woman journalist should have at least checked her facts by going through the District Gazetters of Maharashtra. English rulers were well educated persons from Eton and Harrows and some of them took deep interest inn producing very valuable material like Annals and Antiquities of Rajasthan (Michael), Thugee Sleeman a famous bachelor police officer who chased, caught and learnt the secret script, Ramasi, of the criminal gangs of India, and the brilliant District Gazetteers in which all facts like the one about this village too are mentioned. I personally read an English officer's account about the miracle of Raghavendra Swami in south India. These are official government documents known as District Gazetters. .. Having been born and brought up in Maharashtra, I had opportunities to visit several such mystical places, though I have not visited Shani-Shingnapur. My wife, Rama, visited Shingnapur in January 1998. Many of my relatives have also visited this place frequently. Based on the above, here are some facts: 1 There are more than one Shingnapurs in the state. Shani-Shingnapur is located about 50 km (31 miles), from Shirdi (the home of Sai Baba), which is about 300 Km NW of Bombay. The other Shingnapur is called Shikhar-Shingnapur has a population of about 10,000. 2. None of the structures (dwellings, buildings, etc.) have doors, they have only frames. Until quite recently, say about 5-10 years ago, the only bank branch out there was a rural branch of the State Bank of branch out there was a rural branch of the State Bank of India. Surprisingly, even this structure was devoid of doors! even this structure was devoid of doors! 3. There is no crime (petty crimes included) in this village. If one leaves a suitcase anywhere, even on the streets, no one will pick it up. You will find it exactly at the same spot even a few days later - except of course if a dog or a cow develops an interest in it. It is said that if one commits a crime in this village, one goes blind or loses a limb. 4. The main feature of the village of course is the Shani temple. It is said to be the only "Swayambhu" (self-manifested on earth) and "Jagrit" (awakened) Shani idol in India, which probably would also mean in the world. A visit, a sincere prayer and an appropriate "daan" (charity) in the temple, is said to result in the beneficence of Saturn. The scope of this beneficence is said to be more than to remove or alleviate afflictions material attachments. 5. The Shani idol is a large black rock (probably of basaltic origin, a common rock formation of the western Deccan Plateau on which most of Maharashtra state rests). Hundreds of years ago, the rock was said to have reached the village, floating on the waters of the nearby river (I forget the name) and landed on the shores. A local cowherd discovered it and was shocked to see it "bleeding". The villagers were of course scared. The rock would not budge, even when 20-30 persons collectively attempted to move it. It is said that the rock then spoke, identified itself as the image of Shani Maharaj and said that only two people were required to move it - but these two people should be a maternal uncle-nephew combination. There was only one such pair in the village who were summoned and indeed the rock moved. Shani Maharaj then gave instructions for the "pranapratishtha" (installation ritual, which introduces breath or life force into idols) of the image and laid down the rules of social behaviour in the village. 6. As is typical of most other temples in India, there of course are the usual mercenary transactions involved in ritual worship. However, these are far less blatant or aggressive than found in many other places. In the last few years, I have noticed that Newspapers/Magazines in India have begun to invest more efforts in covering such mystical places and phenomena. I remember that a few years ago, the India Today (a respected fortnightly in India) started a new feature called "Off Beat", printed right up front (the second or third page) in the magazine and reported interesting stories. One such report was about another place in Maharashtra known as Baneshwar (about 40 km south of Pune), where the journalist has even photographed a 150 kg rock spinning at about 15 feet up in the air. I have visited this place many times and will write about it some time. But it is true that the patronizing tone in which these stories are predominantly reported by the Indian media, is intended to reduce the true feel of such places - what comes across is fluff and a presumption that these are just fables and folklore. Thanks for your attention. Guest guest
dear fayaaj, i have attached your chart here. i was going thru the chart..you have kala amrita yoga. and in your case ketu is with ven. in general..any benefic with nodes break the yoga. but in your case ven has parivartana with mars..so there might not have any break. it must have affected you till your 46/47 years of age. when ven is with ketu..means your ketu has got a head. now the head is of ven or mars (?)..i am not sure..i also cannot tell which head it represents. with jup ketu is ganesha with a elephant head..i do not know what other planets with ketu represents. will it be as per kalachakra?...i am not sure. sanjayji or narsimhaji may kindly explain about this further and enlighten us. when ketu has a head..it is very good spiritually. following are the effects of ketu getting a head (from one of the sanjayji's earlier mail), Horse head- Hayagriva; Yajur VedaGoat head - Ajaikapada; Sama VedaCow head - Go mukha (Nandiswara?) Rig VedaMonkey head - Vanara mukha (Hanuman ji) Atharava VedaElephant head - Ganesha (Sarva Veda) That is why He always sits with Veda Vyasa Muni. He likes good company and removes the effects of Saturn and Rahu, preparing the ground for the rise of the atma (Hamsa). now on sadesati..your asc has got strong rahu. also sat contribute 3 points to Ta in AV. presently you are in mer MD and mer is in Ra star. Ra and sat are co lords of Aq..your 10H. another thing that sat is YK for you. 9L & 10L sitting in 3H (Cn is simhasana of sat), also at 6th from AL...providing disciplined initiative in the areas of proffession and a sharp winning edge also. so during sadesati..problem will mainly be in those areas. being YK..he will give you lot of benefits also in this period. so last 2 and half years might not have that bad for you. now sat transit in Ge will not be good..lot of mental tension will be there..may be on proffessional front. sat has only 2 AV points in Ge. but sat transit on Cn will be good for you ..as it is sat's natal position and also has got 4 pts there in AV. in fact .. sadesati is not that dreadfull as it is projected..unless sat is posited very badly in natal chart. sat is a strict and harsh teacher. it teaches to be nonattached in some perticular areas of life during sade sati. and when benefic..it will give many material benefits in that period along with lot of problems. it may also give materialistically beneficial effect just opposite of what the native may want. for example..in your case, you might be trying to avoid a promotion in job or any new venture..to be in peace..but sat may force you in that during sadesati and teach you how to remain non attached with the results.. if you can not, problems and tensions will be at your doorstep. i will request other learned members to comment on my observations. regards jk - Fktareen (AT) aol (DOT) com vedic astrology Friday, April 11, 2003 4:18 PM Re: [vedic astrology] Re: Sadesati Dear Sushmita/ Gaurang Dasji, I'm going through a severe Sadesatti. Guest guest
Namaste, and thanks a lot for offering the help. You can easily send me files at my e-mail address (shank4124 ) No problem at all. You have mentioned in another post that the file might be in the "file" page of the group. And you have mentioned that the file is 981 kb. I visited the file section and found an "rm" file which is 982 kb. I think this is the same file? Although the name is not "vedic worship of saturn" but only "sani.rm" and no name of author, too. But for the same format and same size I think this is the same file? Please remove my doubts....... So does the mantra reduces the harm of natal saturn? Please let me know I will start listening to it soon. Thanks once again for the prompt help. Thanks a lot. This info I got from Mr Makhija a septugenarian whom I met recently. As I am from Nagpur, I will try to locate his publisher and will let you know whether the books are available. As I understand he has written more than about 30 books. So if you have any specific requirtement, let me know. This is no problem for me as I too am trying to get hold of some books by him. Guest guest
Dear Sushmita, Saturn generally gives loss of money/reputation/family generally during the first 2and1/2 years. This is to teach a lesson in Humility. You will find people start believing themselves to be superior on account of one or other.Rest follows the pattern expressed in earlier post. I think his intention is to show world in stark colours bereft of Maya. The way to combat this would be to be equitable in Victory or defeat and try to keep a balanced head on shoulder. Bloated egos generally exagerate effects of Sade Sati as the higher you go the greater distance that you fall. But one thing is to be remembered that Saturn is dispassionate and views even those who gloat over their being pious or religious or even philonthropists in the same light as others. The saving grace is that Saturn generally does not kill but makes one suffer during this time. Meditation would definitely help, but better remedy to give up false ego so that the fall is not from greater heights. Whether one is westerner or easterner does not make any difference to the Great Teacher Saturn. The advantage of a sadesati is that it teaches one the value of patience, and makes one mature. I hope this helps you in understanding effects of Sadesati better. Chandrashekhar. - sushmita34 vedic astrology Friday, April 11, 2003 12:05 PM [vedic astrology] Re: Sadesati Dear Chandrashekar,Thanks so much for the explanation, does the lesson which Saturn teaches changes from house to house (bhava), I am presuming here that life's lessons are different for each individual. I mean in effect can the lessons of life be divided into 12 sections, just a thought here but maybe not correct. Also, I am trying to contemplate that if one knows the lesson that is to be taught, one can meditate intensely and internally be ready for it, thereby reducing the effect of Saturn. If this be true then westerners who can't recite mantras can use this tool and help themselves from the harsh lessons of Sadesati. If the effects of saturn as your post mentioned starts few months before, so should the remedial measures be done before hand rather than wait for Saturn to enter the 12th. Pls correct and reassure, if needed as to whether my thought processes is on the right track.Warm regards,Sushmita--- In vedic astrology, "Chandrashekhar" <boxdel> wrote:> Dear Sushmita,> Sadesati is, as you said, said to operate wrt. Moon. Some also treat similar motion of Saturn wrt Lagna. Sadesati is bad for those whose ascendant lord is enemy of Saturn, generally. Again, I think, rather than number the time in one's life when sadesati arives is relevant. This is because saturn is powerful in late age, in its effects. The relevant dashas also exagerate or soften the impact of sadesati. Anyway, to my way of thinking, sadesati is the time when Saturn teaches the jataka about what is life in reality. When Saturn is in 12th one tends to speculate or overspend and borrowbeyond his means. When in 1st his thought process gets disturbed making him take wrong decisions. When he enters 2nd house the money is all gone and those who he thought were his friends fast disappear. But he finds whom he thought his distractors standing by him. This is when he understands what is life and gains knowledge in real sense of the world. This is how I look at sadesati. Then he shifts to 3rd and progress of the Jataka starts, but he is able to retain what ever he gains due to knowledge that Saturn has given in past 7 and 1/2 years. > About Katweji's opinion I tend to agree with him. Saturn casts his shadow three months before he enters a house and gives results, for the previous house, just as he crosses in to a house. Now as he in the 11th before actual transit to 12th he is aspecting 1st house and so, Katweji's statement holds sense. Though whether to treat the effect commencing from 15 degrees in previous house would depend on the speed of his movement. > This of course is my personal opinion and others more learned than me might differ.> Chandrashekhar. > > Archives: vedic astrologyGroup info: vedic astrology/info.htmlTo UNSUBSCRIBE: Blank mail to vedic astrology-....... Guest guest
Thanks for your views on my chart. KAY may have been broken by Venus, as i got married at 36, on second round of nodal return. But i guess due to parivartan, venus & Mmars give each others results. However, as i'm not likely to see Venus or Mars Mahadasa now it may not be awfully relevant. Regarding Sadesatti, the first ( or was that second ? ) round gave very positive results. The second one ( or third ? ), starting in year 2000 ( Saturn in Taurus) was bad for Career & health. It also saw a fruitless shifting of location to another country, which is now likely to end in a few months. This shifting appears to have been waste of precious savings , mental tension,& absense from job leading to loss of elevation in job, rather than anything useful.Saturns transit over Moon ( In Gemini) was even adverse for my health & health of spouse. The re-entry of Saturn in Gemini, on 7th April, has been almost simultaneous with the entry of transit moon in Gemini & if they are deemed to have entered together then Moorthi-wise Saturn further transit in Gemini may bring relief. Moreover, after the third transit of saturn over natal moon next month ,when saturn moves away from the Janama Nakshatra ,& more so after it crosses 15 degrees away from natal moon ,which will be around August 2003, things should show signs of improvement. By that time Nodal return will also be over & rahu's next transit in 11th & 10th Houses from natal moon should see some good things happening. Jupiter will also by then move to the next nakshatra in sign of Leo which should be helpful--though it will be in 3rd house from rasi, but increased bindus in SAV in leo should help. Saturn's transit in cancer may also be better than its transit in two earlier houses, due to higher Bindus in SAV in cancer. however, there are still some difficult months to cruise through. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Any comments/ views will be welcome. Regards, Fayyaz
