Guest guest
Dear Shanmukha, The LMT corrections for all major towns in India ( some foreign also ) are given in tables towards the end of Lahiri's Indian Ephemeris ( any year will do ). Failing that, remember that IST is the LMT at all places having a longitude of 82o 30' E. Now for any place having a different longitude, simply find the difference in its longitude from the standard longitude of 82o 30' . For every 1o difference, the LMT correction will be 4 minutes. If your longitude is greater than the standard longitude, add, this correction factor, if it is less than the standard longitude, subtract this correction factor. For example, the longitude of Kharagpur ( W.B.) is 87o 20'. the difference from standard longitude of 82o 30' is 4o 50'. Multiplying this by 4 minutes, you get 19minutes 20 secs as the correction factor. As the longitude of Kharagpur is greater than the standard longitude, you must add this correction factor to IST to get the LMT of Khargapur. Hope this helps.
