Guest guest
Om Krishna Guru Dear Sudarshan, You have missed one rule for calculating the varga Narayana dasa.I would like to bring your attention to steps 4 and 5 on page 27 of the Narayana Dasa lecture handout. Step4: Take the sign occupied by him in D-n in your case D-10 Step5 Use this sign as the seed instead of lagna and find Narayana dasa for D-10 just as if it were the rasi chart and that sign were the lagna.IT DOES NOT ASK YOU TO FIND THE STRONGER OF THE SEED SIGN OR THE SEVENTH FROM IT. Since you are looking at the D-10 varga chart you should use the sign occupied by the 10th lord of the rasi chart as the starting sign(Seed sign).Look at the 9th from the seed sign to see if it is odd or even FOOTED, that will determine if the order is zodiacal or anti-zodiacal. The seed sign will determine the progression ie Brahma, Vishnu or Shiva progression. Once again you do not need to determine the strength of the seed sign or the 7th from it. Hope this clarifies things regards Bharminder > > Hare Rama Krishna > > Jaya Jagannatha > > Dear Gurus and List, > > I am trying to figure out the stronger sign between Aries and Libra in the attached chart. Guest guest
Om Krishna Guru Dear Sudharshan, You are right about taking the stronger of Scorpio/Taurus.In the chart you have given Taurus is the initiating sign.Since the starting sign contains Saturn, the Saturn exception applies ie the progression is Brahma's progression and zodiacal in order. The dasa's are Ta= 3-1= 2yrs Ge= 12 yrs Cn= 9-1-1= 7yrs Le= 7-1 = 6yrs Vi=4-1 = 3 yrs Li= 10-1 = 9yrs Sc= Mars is stronger =7-1 = 6yrs Sg=10-1 = 9yrs Cp=9-1 = 8 yrs Aq= Saturn is stronger= 10-1= 9yrs Pi=7-1 = 6yrs Ar = 2-1= 1 yr Why do you need the stronger of Aries/Libra? Guest guest
Hare Rama Krishna, Dear Sudharsan, I'm having trouble following your Dasamsa example since the whole chart wasn't posted. Are you trying to calculate the dasamsa narayana dasa? I don't know why are trying to find the stronger of aries/libra ..neither of them have planets. Are you taking the rasi 10L and looking for it's placement in dasamsa? Then find stronger of that sign and 7th from it as Barminder detailed for you. Maybe you are trying to do something else. I'm just not following it. Unfortunately Iam posting directly from the message board and cannot attach the whole chart. If needed the birth details are 23rd March 1968 TOB:20:20:31 76E58 11N00 Take a look at the Dasamsa as its attached to the first post in the thread.Thanks. Guest guest
Om Krishna Guru Dear Sudharsan, The case you have is very unique and I did not come across any explicit rules for dealing with the same. However while looking through the examples in Pt Sanjay Rath's book on Narayana dasa I did come across an example that is similar to your example. I am giving the birth details since I cannot post the chart Chart 39 Sankaracharya Sri Jayendra Saraswati 18 July 1935 at 19:00 Irul Neki village,India 10N42,79E26 Ascdt is 8Cp15 The D-20 varga Narayana dasa is computed in the example along with the antardasa's for the Aquarius Narayana dasa. Seed for D-20 is the lord of the 8th house in Rasi.Sun is the 8th lord in Ta. Dasa periods Ta=5 yrs Sg=5 yrs Cn= 4 yrs Aq= 11 yrs If you apply the rules for strength to Aq and Le you will get the same situation that you encountered.Sanjay has started the antardasas from Ta. Apparently the deciding factor in this case has been the strength of the lords of the two signs under consideration. In this case the lord of Le , Sun is with 2 planets while Saturn is alone and since Sun occupies Ta the antardasa's start from Ta. This is what I could infer maybe Sanjay or Narasimha can elaborate on this. regards Bharminder > Hare Rama Krishna > > Jaya Jagannatha > > Dear Bharminder, > > I need that to figure out the progression of antaradasas.Libra > mahadasa starts in 1998, but the progression of Antaradasas depend on > the stronger of Aries and Libra.Thanks. > > > Hare Krishna > > Sudharsan > > > vedic astrology, "bsgill70" <bsgill70@h...> wrote: > > Om Krishna Guru > > Dear Sudharshan, > > You are right about taking the stronger of > > Scorpio/Taurus.In the chart you have given Taurus is the initiating > > sign.Since the starting sign contains Saturn, the Saturn exception > > applies ie the progression is Brahma's progression and zodiacal in > > order. > > > > The dasa's are > > > > Ta= 3-1= 2yrs > > Ge= 12 yrs > > Cn= 9-1-1= 7yrs > > Le= 7-1 = 6yrs > > Vi=4-1 = 3 yrs > > Li= 10-1 = 9yrs > > Sc= Mars is stronger =7-1 = 6yrs > > Sg=10-1 = 9yrs > > Cp=9-1 = 8 yrs > > Aq= Saturn is stronger= 10-1= 9yrs > > Pi=7-1 = 6yrs > > Ar = 2-1= 1 yr > > > > Why do you need the stronger of Aries/Libra? Guest guest
Om Jaya Jaggannaatha -------------------- Dear Sudarshan, To answer your question, Libra is stronger than Aries, and the reason being that Venus lord of Libra has higher longitude than Mars the Lord of Aries. But, if you want to calculate the Dasamsa Narayana Dasa, you take the 10L in Rasi chart i.e. Moon as Lagna in Rasi is Libra, and find its position in D-10. Consider the stronger of that house and the 7H from it. In the chart you gave, Moon is in Scorpio. Stronger of Scorpio & Taurus is Taurus as it has more number of planets. Hence D10 Narayana Dasa begins with Taurus and the progression is regular & zodiacal(Ta, Ge, Cn .... Ar) i.e Brahma's as Saturn is placed in Taurus. Just Clarifying. Guest guest
Hare Rama Krishna Jaya Jagannatha Dear Narayan, Thanks a lot for the help.Just to be certain, when you say Libra is stronger are you referring to Dasamsa? Venus is greater in longitude in Rashi chart but in the case of Dasamsa, how do we arrive at that conclusion? If its not too much of a bother can you pen a few lines. Thanks for the help. Guest guest
Om Jaya Jaggannaatha -------------------- Dear Sudarsha, Yes, I was referring to the Dasamsa. As far as the rules are concerned, the last step is to see the longitudes of the lord of the 2 houses/signs concerned(after the bunch of rules you mentioned.) This has to be done even though we are working on the divisional chart! Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask. In example 39 of the Narayana Dasa book Sanjayji has given an example for calculating the D-20 Narayana dasa's. The chart is that of Sankaracharya Sri Jayendra Saraswati. In this example although Saturn is higher in longitude than Sun the Aquarius antardasa's are started from Ta where Sun is posited. That seems to be different from what you are suggesting.Could you clarify that regards Bharminder > > Hope this helps. Guest guest
Om Hum Vishnave Namah --------------------- Dear Bharminder, Nice Point. The only reason I can come up with is, Sun the Lord of Leo is with more number of planets(i.e Jupiter) than Saturn(who is alone). In the chart Sudarshan posted, both Mars & Venus(lords of Aries & Libra respectively) are with equal number of planets! So it wont make any difference in his case. Neverthless, it is an interesting point, must be one of those rules, which needs to be tested and finalized. Hopefully Sanjayji or Narasimha will throw more light on this. Guest guest
Om Krishna Guru Dear Narayan, > In the chart Sudarshan posted, both Mars & Venus(lords of Aries & > Libra respectively) are with equal number of planets! So it wont > make any difference in his case. Since Sanjayji has used the stronger lord of the two signs as the deciding the stronger sign this makes me wonder if we can apply rules for the determining the stronger lord between Mars&Ketu or Saturn&Rahu. In such a case Mars becomes the stronger lord ( decided on basis of Dual>Fixed>Movable) in the example that Sudharshan gave. I agree it would be helpful if Sanjayji or Narasimha could clarify this. regards Bharminder
Guest guest
Om Guruvae Namaha! Dear Bharminder, In the case of Sankaracharya Sri Jayendra Saraswati's D- 20, In trying to determine the stronger of Aquarius and Leo for Aquarius antra dasa, Leo is aspected by Mercury while Aquarius is aspected by none of Me/Jup/Lord . Hence Leo is stronger. The Antradasa starts from Ta (having Sun). regards, Shriram vedic astrology, "bsgill70" <bsgill70@h...> wrote: > Om Krishna Guru > Dear Narayan, > > > Yes, I was referring to the Dasamsa.
