Guest guest
Dear Group, Does anyone know if there is an English translation of Jaimini's Mimamsa-sutra on the www? Or, any English commentaries on the same? I have gone through the www quite extensively and can't find it. Thanks in advance! Robyn

Robyn The Jaimini that you are referring to above, is not the same as Maharshi Jaimini who authored the Jaimini sutram. He who wrote the Mimamsa philosophy, is one of the Sapta-rishis, also Jaimini. Anyway, I cannot give you a lead on where to get the book - just thought to make the distinction between the two. Best wishes, Robert ===================================== Robert A. Guest guest
Dear Robert, Thanks for making the distinction. I have found the relevant information finally. Why I wanted to find it is that there is a placement in my chart according to the Jaimini system which reads: "Budha in Karakamsa or in the 5th from there denotes a Mimamsaka (follower of Karma Mimansa philosophy)." I presume this means a person who spiritualises their working life (in the modern context?) leaving the results to God? Pranams Robyn - Robert A. Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah ------------------------ Dear Robyn, That is one point, but there are others. It gives an attitude to compromise and the person like Buddha always feels neglected till he finds his Guru (just like the Buddha Graha felt neglected by his parents Moon & Tara till Guru adopted him). It gives a keen ability for business and the person normally succeeds in business provided other factors are strong in the dasamsa..I could go on. Guest guest
Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya Dear Sanjay, Thank you for giving me added insight into this placement. It certainly puts a new perspective on my Dasamsa. Shall have another look to check strengths and weaknesses. There are yogas in that D-10 that highlight the particular problems I had in my former career. Sarbani and I think we might join up at Puri and both fall at Sri Jagganath's feet prior to the conference in Hyderabad! Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah ------------------------ Dear Robyn You two are blessed to have good thoughts. In fact I will be travelling to Puri and will take the 'Aadesha' (Orders) and blessings of Mahaprabhu before moving to hyderabad. I wanted this to be in Margasira Maasa as I intend to keep the Su-dasa vrata during that period. It is only for 4 thursdays.
