Sir, I am trying to develop a software program in astrology. I have

read books that one has to go through ephermis or panchang to find

out which star is rising & which is nakshatra at time of birth. Is

there any alternative to this, because I cannot enter for all years.

How do I do this. Please help.

Om Gurave Namah,

Hi,

I'll tell what I know about this.

The planet position data can be obtained either from commercially

available databases like the swiss ephemeris at www.astro.com OR the

positions can be calculatated by formulae[Polynomials]. There are

many different types of formulas giving various accuracies.

The Ephemeris Databases are more accurate than the formulae as they

contain observed data. Formulas usually give varying degrees of

errors depending on how much back in time you want to compute and the

planet(like Sun is usually very accurately calculable).

After getting the planets positions then you can apply the Ayanamsha

and calculate all the upgrahas and divisionals. You can to refer B.V

Ramans Manual of astrology and other books for computation.

There is more to it like Topocentric(As observed from a given

position on earth), Geocentric(As calculated for center of earth same

for all places at given time) positions of planets, Parallax(Planets

like moon, which are near objects, Seem different by some angles from

different parts of globe at the same time). etc. etc.

You can ofcourse search in the web for more information.

Prabhakaran

Thanks Mr.Sanjay for your answer but what I require is

the formulas since I am trying to develop software on

this or any other method which can be used in

software.

Thank you
