Guest guest
Hi all, During my initiation into the study of astro, one bloke had told me that the Moon exalts in Rohini; now I know that's wrong since BPHS tells us that the exaltation is at 3 degrees of Taurus, which means in Krittika. Anyway... Once every twenty-odd years or so, around early June, Moon would exalt in Krittika, but with the Sun also being there. While this would mean Moon's most powerful position, it would also mean a complete lack of paksha bala. Moon would be at her most powerful but not really either, isn't it? In fact, even once every three years or so, the Moon would exalt with the Sun being pretty close and thereabouts. What I want to know is - how to interpret the situation, since the two aspects here kinda make the situation paradoxical? Before you begin to scowl at the elementary nature of my query, please note that I'm just a learner Warm regards, Ramapriya hubli

However, this multitude of parameters should not be understood as being interchangeable, but rather they compliment each other so as to bring out a more sophisticated picture of the state of a planet. Therefore Paksha Bala and Uccha Bala should not be interpretedin the same way. The Paksha Bala of a planet (especially of the Moon) will indicate that its energy is more or less disturbed by the Sun. Uccha Bala, on the other hand, indicates that the Moon is close or far from the place where it can give its best preformance. Let me give an analogy. You may be at your favourite place, for example on the beach, where you feel very exalted, but if your boss is right there besdides you, this may somewhat change your feelings and add some pressure to the situation, although it's still better than if you met him at the most hated place.
