Guest guest Report post Posted February 17, 2005 Hello Everyone, I'd like to know the concept behind the panchak days - the 5 days when it is not advised to start anything new or auspicious. Also, I'd like to know how one is affected if one does start some important event of one's life during this period. Thanks, Divya
Guest guest Report post Posted February 18, 2005 Dear Divya, Perhaps you have confused Panchaka for Pancha Tithi. Anyway, Pancha Tithi are Nanda, Bhadra, Jaya, Rikta & PoorNa which come in cyclic order in a month; And each tithi bears an important role during certain rituals. According to Muhurta/electional astrology, there are a lot of conditions/rules or guidelines for choosing a GOOD tithi for a given event. But tithi alone can not decide GOOD or BAD things though it bears 1/5 th of total decisive strength. Usually Rikta(4-9- 14) tithis are avoided for any good work. Panchaka is different from the above and is the SUM of 5 important elements - Tithi + Vara + Nakshatra + Lagna + Dhruvaka, used in deciding the Muhurta. Bad panchakas are avoided in Muhurtha. This is a vast subject by itself, your doubt may be clarified, if you mention the event and tithi etc they took place. yours KAD , "Divya" <touchbase_divya> wrote: > > Hello Everyone, > > I'd like to know the concept behind the panchak days - the 5 days > when it is not advised to start anything new or auspicious. Guest guest Report post Posted February 18, 2005 Dear Kad, Thanks for your reply. I dont know much about tithis, but let me elaborate on what exactly I wanted to ask. Maybe then you will be able to tell me whether it is panch tithi or not. The tithi calender we have, to see the the timings of different festivals, fasts etcs, has some tithis marked as panchak. Like, for example, Panchak in Feb.2005 starts from 9.2.05 (9.47 am, tithi - pratipada, vaar - budhvaar, nakshtra - ghanishtha) and ends on 13.2.05 (at 2.45 pm, tithi - panchami, Vaar - Ravivaar, Nakshatra - Revati). Panchak in March, 2005 starts from 8.3.05 ( from 8.10 pm, tithi - trayodashi, Vaar - Mangalvaar, Nakshtra - Shravana) and ends on 12.03.05 ( at 12.47 midnight, tithi - dwitiya, Vaar - Shanivaar, Nakshtra - Revati). It states that no auspicious work should be undertaken during this time like marraige, naamkaran, grihapravesh etc. I have been wondering for a long time what the astrological significance of these dates is and how it can possibly affect someone's life if one does indeed start something important during this time. I hope you will be able to give me further clarification and whether it is indeed panch tithi or not. Guest guest Report post Posted February 21, 2005 Dear Divya, Perhaps, THIS Panchaka you are talking about is the set of FIVE DAYS (tithi), forming PANCHAKA YOGA, during which no Muhurta for auspicious events are held[ACCORDING A FEW ONLY]. There are many antidotes for minor doshas in Muhurta chart and so just Panchaka Yoga alone will not decide good or bad results. If Lagna and its lord are strong at the time of event, the bad results will not occur usually. Hope this message helps you. yours KAD , DC <touchbase_divya> wrote: > Dear Kad, > > Thanks for your reply. I dont know much about tithis, but let me elaborate on what exactly I wanted to ask.
