I ran JS3 this morning for the first time. Basically, I got no work

done after that, because I was so drawn into checking out every

little thing about it. I doubt I've covered 1/100th of what's

actually there. It's so different than GJ2, and so different than any

other jyotish program, that I'm completely stunned and don't know

what to say except, WOW! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS PROGRAM!

Exactly like Das said, there's a lot to learn. Nothing works like in

the old program, and so it takes a little while to get into the flow

of it. But now that I've gotten in there just a little bit, I am

totally impressed. This program is leading in an entirely new

direction -- an unbelievably powerful direction. Since it's beta

there are missing pieces, and some of the pieces that are there are

rough, but I can already see what it will look like when it's finished.

The process of moving from beta to release of the finished product is

going to be very, very interesting.

Das, I bow in your general direction. Clearly the gods of jyotish

were whispering in your ear when you made this.

Dear Dasji,

You deserve a lot of applause for what you have accomplished. JS3 is a beta

but it is a working beta that can continue where 2.26 left off without

missing a beat!

I can't wait till you "fill in" the features you have planned. I think the

most exciting feature is the inclusion of Jyotish Classical Texts and the

possibility of adding new ones as standards develop providing the

calculations and the reference for interpretation all in one program!

Awesome! Now if you could just tie the references to the

calculations..........!:-) I know that is a tall order but some day I know

you will take it there!

JS2 was graphically rich and a pleasure to work with. JS3 kicks it up a

notch and makes it the most visually and functionally rich Jyotish software.

I can't wait to see the complete version with all the bugs fixed and

"trailers" completed!

Awesome job! Congratulations! And a sincere prayer to the Divine Mother to

continue to inspire you to even higher levels of creativity!

Re: JS3

Dear list and Michael Taft,

After years of waiting to release this new version, your letter Michael says

what I hoped I would eventually hear, what I've been waiting to hear.

I really do believe computer software can do better for Jyotish than the

current lineup of programs do for Jyotish. I've attempted to go further,

and your letter proves that I am on the right track, because I know you

Michael. In case others do not, Michael is a good Jyotishi, and a

sophisticated modern guy, and sophisticated computer user, a power user, and

he used to work for "Sounds True", the company that recorded all the early

Jyotish conferences. He's in the know.

So I feel very vindicated.

In fact, this morning, after reading that letter, which isn't "kind", it's

"true", a great peace made of happiness and satisfaction has come over me.

Thank you profoundly for that. I've been waiting a long time to hear this,

to hear that I'm on the right track, or at least a very interesting and

exciting track. I do hope to deliver something that everyone likes, that

excites, that leads in a positive, good, new direction. It sounds like I've

done it. I believe I have. The more I hear others agree, the more power I

will get back in my veigns.

Jyotish software was "flat". JS3 is NOT.

Thanks, Peace,

You will not have to pay again. Perhaps maybe a shipping charge, like a

total of say $10 to cover the CD and shipping, but for example, right now,

there are some people who paid the $100 long ago, and they are getting a new

CD or downloading this one for free.

So my policy is already in action. You can trust it.

Thanks for asking, order with confidence,

I have to agree with this prior email. I got lost in the much of it's

details. My use is somewhat different than most, as I use primarily

Pachang and Mahurta. With GJ2 under MacOS X (Classic), I had serious

problems with doing large Pachanga (a full year), often it would hang

producing nothing or take a half hour. With JS3, it took less than 5

minutes, and no problems. I imported my entire GJ2 user base in just

a few seconds, and was able to Calculate their charts (with readings,

full attr. etc.) in less than a minute each. This was amazing. I

compared the resaults with GJ2, found it's accuracy is as good as ever.

Then I found out how to customize the chart presentation...3hrs later

I was still playing. These just so much here.

Not to say It's free of bugs. When attempting to save the preferences

for the Main chart, It would not save the background color. There are

a few other cosmetic gotchas, like be careful about your choice of

background color, or your palette becomes unusable. Also the Panchang

uses the same presentation, as GJ2, and needs to be redone as fonts

overlap,etc.

But this is a beta, and an outstanding one. So far it's solid. For

me, even in this unfinished state, I cannot see myself going back.

Good Work
