Guest guest Report post Posted April 24, 2003 I have found it sufficient to alkalinize my bloodstream when a typical cold virus threatens to take over, and quickly there is no more cold virus and I have escaped what would otherwise have taken a week or more of discomfort. You can alkalinize your bloodstream by omitting foods containing refined sugars and omitting any other foods such as meats that cause acidity in the body. Take plenty of fruit juices and allow much rest (sleeping helps alkalize the body). For a rapid way to get rid of a virus, take Alka-Seltzer tablets. There are Alka Seltzer tablets for cold symptoms, too. This does the job quickly. Baking soda is another inexpensive preparation that alkalinizes the body and chases viruses away. I thought I'd mention this because such information from Edgar Cayce was given to the world over 50 years ago, and is not widely known. My hope is that people will use Cayce's suggestions and then tell others when they find that it works! My father was a great believer in baking soda to alkalize the body (born in 1911) and in his 89 years i never knew him to get a cold or flu. Interesting. For some info from a person who has lived in country plagued by the HIV/AIDS virus. There is an immune booster called Moducare (can be found on the www) developed at Stellenbosch University from the common African potato. It is superb and I have been on this now for over three years. It is so strong and effective it is being used to boost the immune systems of HIV patients. Just a thought in these times. I only don't know how baking soda can be used for this purpose- the only use I know of health-vise is to brush teeth with baking soda+lemon juice /on tooth-brush/. My father used to use Bicarbonate of Soda. He would put a teaspoonful (reversed) on his tongue and then knock it back with a glass full of water. I remember him doing this from an early age whenever he felt his system was not 'right'. Shows how much we know about our bodies without realising it. Of course, I don't recommend people go about knocking back bicarb whenever and however, but it does apparently make the bloodstream more alkaline. The scientists/chemists on this list would know more. I have been on Moducare now for three years and in that time have not suffered a single cold or flu. And i have been travelling a lot in that time and doing hard physical work with sick, elderly people. I also take bicarb when i feel my blood is too acid. I also practise the kriya yoga of clearing out the nostrils every morning. The Zulu people in my own country have also used a similar method (with sea water) for centuries.
