Guest guest
You might find some useful software reviews on Hank Friedman's website www.soulhealing.com I am patiently waiting for Das's upcoming version 3 of Gorovani Jyotish - Go DAS!!! PL2000 Pretty amazing but I have encountered numerous bizarre behaviors from it and wonder sometimes if it can be trusted. I recently received the 'second edition' which is supposed to interface with Rodden's Databank v2 and it converts anyone who is born in April to August - a major bug. What happened to quality assurance? I like to cut and paste/edit info items from different software programs into one doc file and this is impossible with PL2000. It is either what you see is what you get (graphic file, as in print screen), or hard-copy print-out. If you wanted to e-mail someone an interpretation from PL2000 you would have to scan the hard-copy. (same with their other products - Shri Muhurta & Astrologers Bookshelf). Aside from this however, I do find it very rich. I noticed on Elance.com recently that Geovision has contracted with someone to create a palm pilot version. Solar Fire v5 This is primarily a Western astrology program but with v5 there are many new features for Jyotish included and it is very easy to use and accurate. The interpretation database can be edited by the user to your liking and they are OK with that. I am constantly trying new ways to tweak it for jyotish sidereal astrology. Since I come from a Western astrology background I still look at it from both ways and this is my favorite. Shri Jyoti Star v3.645 As Das says, it is pretty dense - I am still trying to figure it out. Roddens Databank v2 This is excellent for doing research with a large database over 20,000 charts included and it can do jyotish! I just got it so I am still figuring it out. You do need a decent computer for this one. I have a 733mhz/256M of memory and it takes about an hour and half to re-calc all the records. Junior Jyotish This is a free, simple program for 'The Systems Approach' version of jyotish. It is very useful and gives you the basic info on a chart, nothing fancy. It is available for the palm pilot also. There are many others out there and I have links for most of them on my website www.VedicWeb.com on the 'astrology software' page.
